Mini keyboard controller for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and Mac/PC

Image

IK Multimedia is proud to present iRig KEYS, the first ultra-slim and highly portable universal MIDI controller keyboard for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and Mac/PC. iRig KEYS connects directly to the iOS device 30 pin dock connector or the USB port on Mac/PC. It features 37 velocity-sensitive mini-keys — 3 full octave range plus one note, that takes up minimal space when used on a desktop, and can easily fit in a backpack or a carry-on bag.
  • iRig KEYS is Core MIDI and USB class compliant for a true plug-and-play experience both with iOS devices or Mac/PC, with no additional app, software or drivers to be installed to have it go and running. For total mobility, iRig KEYS is also an ultra-low power consumption unit.
  • iRig KEYS can be used for live performance, songwriting and composition with the included apps and software or with a multitude of other MIDI compatible instruments and recorders on any iOS, MacOS or Windows system.
  • iRig Keys comes complete with two free professional quality virtual instrument apps and software that can be immediately downloaded and played, for a true plug-and-play experience right out of the box.
For iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, iRig Keys comes with:

- SampleTank for iPhone or iPad FREE, the virtual sound module including a complete selection of acoustic, electric and electronic instruments and patterns, unlocking 48 bonus instruments in addition of the 20 included with the free version (to be download from the App Store)

On Mac/PC iRig Keys come with a downloadable version of:

- SampleTank 2 L the Mac/PC sample workstation, available both as a stand-alone and as a plug-in for most popular DAW (including GarageBand, Logic, ProTools, Cubase, Live, Sonar and more) with 2 GB of samples in every instruments category (to be downloaded from the IK Multimedia online User Area)

Price and availability
Rig Keys will be shipping in Fall 2012 for $99.99/€74,99 (ex. taxes) and will be available in musical instruments and electronic retailers around the world. IK is offering a 10% discount for pre-orders, which are already available on the IK Online Store. Use coupon code MOBILITY when checking out to receive 10% off.

Apart from the fact there's already hundreds of the damn things.

Why would a huge space be left where knobs, faders etc could of gone?

No mention of psu/dock charging. Hmmm.

I think it's pretty cute. Not all minikeyboards have both a pitch and a mod wheel.

Just to confirm: in addition to using the dock connector cable, we can also use the USB out of this thing into the CCK on iPad? I assume becuase it's class compliant, we can?

The same exact price as the ESI KeyControl 25 XT.

Decisions, decisions...

Thanks for your keen interest in IK and how closely you seem to follow us. I haven't found hundreds of controllers with 30-pin dock connectors, USB, and both pitch & mod wheels though. Thanks for the heads up. I'll look for bigfoot while I'm at it.

Out of the 48 compact controllers at Sweetwater, I admit not clicking every one since I'm well aware of the specs of most on the list and the descriptions suffic, but I don't see mini form factor + dock and USB on any except a bit of a stretch on the "mini" part on one other... http://www.sweetwater.com/c514--Compact ... ntrollers/

It's a bit hard not to. This morning I woke up ready for a sh!t only to find one of your products in the bowl telling me about his day and how good he is.

Either have I. I was quoting Brian who said it is "the first ultra-slim and highly portable universal MIDI controller keyboard for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and Mac/PC", which clearly it isn't.

Yes it is, show me another 37 mini keyboard that works for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Mac and PC? Peter pointed out the closest one out and it still doesn't compete with ours.

Sorry about the newest addition to the iRig family and all though. Didn't think it would ruin your day and all. :/ I figured most people would have thought iRig Keys was pretty cool....

But won't work out of the box with iOS, needs camera connector, although $20 cheaper.

All in all, IK has a very competitive product out there.

- iOS connection with no need for accessories
- 1 assignable knob
- program and octave buttons
- set button with 4 configurable set
- optional sustain pedal
- iRig KEYS is smaller
- 37 keys

AND with the 10% off right now it sets it at a great price too.

Thanks for the kind words George!

I agree. This is pretty attractive, especially considering that Korg's 25-key version isn't out yet, and Line 6's offering is outrageously expensive. I don't mind mini-keys all that much, which is why I have a 61-key Korg MicroStation which is what I use for keyboardin' on my iPad.

I like it. If only it had some drum pads!!!!

I have my akai mpk mini. I have to see if it works with the ipad.

i'll wait till i can see one in person before i comment on quality, value etc but wow i would think the first rule you would have at IK is not stoop to the level of some of the flippant comments made. That's disappointing.

Clearly you, me, we were interested in it otherwise we wouldn't have clicked the link to read. No reason to slam a product if you arent interested, just read on elsewhere.

They do take the high road usually, I'll give them that, but OTOH there would probably be less rude comments without the everpresent tag team shillery....
