i have no idea what addictive keys is. is this like toontrack ezkeys?

Its Addictive Drums with a Grand Piano, Upright Piano and Mark 1 piano.

Well, apparently it's NOT like AD with key instruments. No midi component for loops, etc. like EZKeys. AD has a huge midi component for loops.

The feature is there. I beta tested it. Seen the placement myself. I also own AD. They are very similar. If that one feature is all that is important to you then yeah u might not see them as the same. As someone who does not use midi drum loops its a non issue and something I didn't even consider.

I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing. EZKeys is being sold as a songwriting tool because of the midi component that is stuffed with comping phrases and licks that can be easily adapted to any key. Presumably, non-keyboardists can put together entire tracks using this. It is this, not the actual piano, that is its selling point.

Does AKeys have this? If it does, they are marketing it all wrong, because if none of the informed consumers of KVR got this message, no one will. What it sounds like you are saying is that there is some kind of built in MIDI component, perhaps for use as a sketch pad, or saving phrases, but not developed to the extent EZ Keys is.

AD, on the other hand, is stuffed with useful MIDI stuff, which is very intelligently laid out, intuitive, and very easy to use. Auditioning, saving, and drag 'n drop are all easily implemented right in the UI. Whole rhythm tracks in minutes. Brilliant.

I don't use EZ keys idk what they is about. What I said is that this is Addictive Drums with pianos and it very much so is. Swap out the options for drums and use ones that make sense for playing these pianos and they are not much different. Again if the only thing stopping one from buying this is the thought of loops being included then you are missing out on what the product is missing out on due to one feature. My assumption also is that it ships with midi loops idk this is the beta.

why is the CPU monitor "RED"... is AD Keys cpu intensive?

thats not the cpu meter. I forgot to close Reason when I made the screen shot and Reason had my asio drivers. Thats the I have no sound thingy. AK is not cpu intensive at all. About the same as AD

I'd like to be able to assign different cc's to the pedals so as to control them from my keyboards mod wheels like i can with Alicias Keys as i don't have a sus pedal. Will this be implemented in an update?

Edit - Nevermind, just figured out how to change the cc output on my secondry mod wheel/rotary knobs. It's only taken me about twelve years find out how to do this! Ah well, i never needed to before better late than never:lol:

Didn't really think I needed another piano, but this one sounds great, loads fast and is easier then any others that I currently have to work with.

Just to clarify the free ADpak applies only if you already own Addictive Drums. If you own Addictive Drums and buy Addictive Keys you will be given the opportunity to select a free ADpak when you register your Addictive Keys. Of course you wouldn't need the free ADpak if you didn't own Addictive Drums, but just wanted to make that abundantly clear.

The free grand piano sounds very good to my ears.
I have AD and several of the ADpacks, when I moved to the new online installer etc.. I failed to get to the 64 bit version.
It plays without a problem in Reaper64 with the bridge, but I need to figure out, how to upgrade to 64 bit version, without having to download GB's of content
Other than that, I give a thumps up for the piano

The online installer will only download files that are missing or needs updating, so it should be fine. Please just contact support if you have any questions!

I'm very impressed by the quality and playability.

Question about the new online installer:
If you use a 2nd token on a laptop or buy a new computer someday, do you have to download all again (about 4GB) ?
No backup possibility (at least for the big sample libs) ?
Internet is still not free .

No, it is possible to copy the files over from the original installation. We recommend using the Online Installer though. But once you've copied the files and run the installer it will check all files for the latest version and authorize the products. Even if you choose to update the instruments it will not re-download the big sound data files as long as they're up to date. The Online Installer only downloads files that are missing or out of date.

Do have an internet connection that's capped to a specific monthly download?

Have followed this thread with interest, I bought Addictive Keys and just bought Addictive Drums in the KvR marketplace.

I do appreciate there are issues for folks with paid bandwidth and potential showstoppers for those with offline DAWs, however, for mister average user here, the online installer was completely flawless and easy.

Installing Keys demo -> replacing with Keys full -> adding Drums demo -> replacing with Drums full plus a few adpaks and kit pieces all went painlessly without a hitch, an out of date installer, a corrupted zip, a dodgy uninstaller, or a mistyped serial number....

I know this marks me as a bad GAS sufferer but Addictive Keys is SO good , it made me buy Addictive Drums, despite the fact I really don't need another drum library!
