Yes, still waiting for it to go 64bit, but works with jBridge and Reaper's internal bridge.

I also have Valhalla and Breverb, but won't be ditching CSR anytime soon.
Yeah I'm realizing with Reaper's bridge that 32 bit/64 bit for the most part doesn't matter. So, comparing Valhalla and IK, which do you turn to most often?

I am not crazy about the GUi for Valhalla, though it seems pretty functional, just unappealing. And it is $50 normally, where I have a limited time to decide on IK's deal. I likely will buy this and that will be it for dedicated reverbs for me, so of the two which would be more well-rounded?

Valhalla GUI definitely is functional (and I actually like it ;) ). It simply sounds great, I need some time to get the sound I want out of it, but once I did it simply sounds like nothing else - my main use for it is vocals / drum groups.

As for CSR, it is a different beast, I use it mostly for snare and guitar plates: it has a short metallic tail which is perfect to give snares additional punch / presence, but also for special FX on vox (Inverse) and sometimes drum rooms (the Room or Hall algorithms).

Don't know if this helps, but I truly use both. If you think you can buy VRoom at a later time, get CSR now and VRoom when you can... but be sure to get it somewhen ;)

I know CSR is considered 'old' and not so sexy anymore, but is has been my go-to reverb since it came out. Still is.

I just demoed Lexicon MPX native... liked it a lot. Nearly bought it, when I figured I should also compare it with what I already have. I was shocked how good it was. Ofcourse I already knew that, but I guess I wanted the Lexicon (big name) to be much better. For me, it's not - I even think they sound kinda close.

I really hope IK get the 64bits versions done soon (as they sort of promised), because they aren't fully compatible with Cubase's bitbridge. Works ok, but if you use multiple instances, strange thing can happen.

For the record, I didn't like ValhallaRoom. Somehow I couldn't get it to work for me.

OK, I went ahead an bought CSR, if Valhalla was on sale i likely would have gotten that so that was my main consideration. Is is lovely but I think I can get it later if i find the need. Thanks for your help.

Hope you like it and will find it useful - don't uninstall VRoom, play with it for some time and let it grow, that thing is beauty :)

Oh I'm really pleased with CSR :) It suits me a bit more than Valhalla from my initial few minutes with it, really sounds like what I want reverb to sound like. The inverse delay is great BTW, anyhow this all fills a gap that i thought was filled before, I just switched back to reaper from Studio one which has ok built-in effects but this is so much nicer than those. I think I really didn't know what I was missing :)

It is funny, the last reverb I bought that was 'just' a reverb unit was from Radio Shack way back in '85 :D and it cost about the same, maybe more now adjusted for inflation, and sounded like crap. Oh i feel absolutely spoiled! I'm glad I didn't let the bit bridge scare me off.

I tried EpicVerb, it was nice but not exactly what I was wanting, it sounded very close to the PODFarm reverbs though more editing possibilities. CSR and Valhalla Room are on a different level. Valhalla Room to my ears was more lush but I need bread and butter anyhow, not that it can't do that but I think I made the right decision given IK had this on sale. I was also reluctant given the age but good code is good code  Hopefully 64 bit is coming but Reaper's bridge is solid.

Seriously, ValhallaRoom is amazing and really not expensive :)
The "best" reverb I know, regardless of the price :)

Cheers

I demoed CSR and ValhallaRoom side by side last time there was a sale on but didnt have enough cash to buy. I just couldnt get what all the fuss was about with ValhallaRoom. I thought CSR room was so big and lush, sitting anything I put into it perfectly in the mix. Shame you cant buy them individually as its only the "room" one I would want after getting CSR hall in group buy promotion ages ago.

CRS is actually pretty good. I think best sounding IK product, but GUI is just so outdated.

I mean it's not for tweakers, having different types as separate plugins and all the controls hidden is really a pita by modern standards.

I also have the feeling that IK may abandon this one. They should have updated it a couple of years ago but instead they sell it with 70% discount.

I'm thinking about selling my CRS and continue with valhalla and 2CAudio only.

Yeah I do wish they all were within one GUI. But in my reverb channel in Reaper, I just put one of each, and only am enabling the one i want to use at whatever time, so it is not a big deal really. I actually appreciate the easy controls, though I do agree it would have been nice to have a bigger GUI without as many pages. I really didn't like the Valhalla GUI myself, so between the two IK is my preference. My only real 'gripe' would be 64 bit support, but everything is working fine bridged so time will tell how that goes, either the bridge craps out or they update the plugin or whatever.

ValhallaRoom is better. It's on-par with Lexicon's own reverb. CSR comes close to the Lexicon sound it's trying to emulate but it has a grainy sound that you can't get rid of. It was great when it was released in 2006 but Valhalla supercedes it for sure.

This video compares a bunch of reverbs and is what made we finally get ValhallaRoom:

No. We are NOT abandoning our lovely Classik Studio Reverb! NEVER!

64 bit is currently in the works. No public ETA, but rest assured it won't be too long and it will come with surprises too....

Works GREAT in Reaper and I always love CSR on vocals, drums, pianos and everywhere really. Just a perfect verb in any situation for any instrument can be had with CSR.
No longer with IK. Here is my Website | Twitter | YouTube | Facebook | Instagram

@Obik,

Will the 64-bit update be free to current owners?

Thanks,
