DrumJam is now live in the App Store!
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/drumjam/ ... ?ls=1&mt=8
http://drumjamapp.com/
From the creator of the incredible ThumbJam, and percussionist Pete Lockett.
I've just dabbled with this app for a short time, but it's so inspiring and great sounding.
This looks like one of these rare gems thats both fun AND very useful. Get this now!
Virtual midi, external midi, record, export, etc., etc.
And it's only $3.99 now.

It is a great app. The samples sound really good and the interface does a good job of presenting a lot of information and customization to you all at once, cleanly.
It kind of reminds me a bit of Jamstix or Jamcussion (though without the endless tweakability and variety, of course!). And for now, it's the closest thing to Jamstix we have on the iPad.

Agreed! I picked it up last night too. I didn't want to stop playing with it. Very easy and fun to use, and sound quality is really great!

I just bought this - had to.
Considering I also have Modrum, Thumbjam and Bassline - I can now use all of the above with DrumJam - VERY cool and powerful.
Ditto to all the great things mentioned about this app. Love it.

I've watched several videos, and I'm still not sure what this app does. Specifically, how is it different from playing the drum kits in DM1 or iMaschine? I love ThumbJam, so I'm assuming this will be good too.

It is a groove player that has a on-screen visual mixer - you drag and drop the percussion elements and 'mix' them (left to right = panning and closer/farther away from the 'speaker' icon = volume).dswo wrote:I've watched several videos, and I'm still not sure what this app does. It plays loops of said instruments to any tempo you set and all instruments sound fantastic.
On the bottom is the area that you 'play' to the grooves (like Thumbjam) - this is where you jam. You pick any number of drum sets or percussion instruments and then jam out. Everything stays in beat, in sync and in tempo.
It is amazingly fun and 100% useful. Use it alongside MoDrum and have a complete drum section with drums and ethnic percussion. It can 'control' midi sessions and specific music apps that are compatible (like MoDrum, Thumbjam, Bassline, etc).
It is a LOT like having Jamstix and elements of Stylus RMX on your iPad, but a lot more fun and 'hands on'.
For $4, just buy the damn thing. You'll love it.

No, but that is a good feature request. Post that on the DrumJam forums!mbncp wrote:Nice one and something different
Is there a way to record only what you play (bottom), but still listen to the band (top) ?

I bought this last night, amazing and inspiring. The hang drum is incredible, my favorite so far. Already started a song in nanostudio based on that and the ideas started flowing. Great use of $4!.

With apps like this apple should give these guys some bucks for each sale instead of "stealing" them 30%, apps like this one makes me feel better when I remember that I got 3 ipads
