I love synths, just wish I knew what the hell I was doing when it came to sound design.
That being said (written? typed?), the guitar is and always will be my main instrument.

I mostly use MIDI instruments with a digital guitar.

guitar is my prime instrument (I include bass and the baritone in there as well), but I play some keys, I'm learning to play the hammered dulcimer, there should be a law that I never sing again, I use to play the harmonica a lot, the first instrument I played was trumpet which lasted about 4 years in my school days (I wasn't very good) and I'll be learning to play some other instruments I may build (zithers, psalteries and other unique stringed instruments)
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Another keys player here too, though I'm more of a hack or improvisation oriented. Not too terribly complex stuff though. I used to play trumpet, but I haven't picked the thing up in almost a decade. (I was up at about Aria Con Variazioni level)
I also have a couple bamboo flutes that I can play simple stuff on.

I learned accordion at a music school, played it over 20 years but my main instrument is since the 90th the keyboard.
Anyway, a musician without playing an instrument? IMO this are the basics and without such knowledge it's hard to have an idea about harmonies and stuff.
It's never too late to learn an instrument.
Btw if I could go back, I would also pick the accordion or an instrument which can be easy played outdoor like a guitar, harmonica etc.

Not sure.
I picked brass, because that name sounds fun.
Can we have another poll regarding our second most played instrument ?

I picked guitar as that's what I have played the longest (20+) years. Currently I'm practicing cello mainly and along the way I learned keys and bass as well. I'm not that good on those but it's enough for my composing needs.

Mostly I play with the sequencer on my pc but I also play guitar, bass, drums and keys, and I have all of them in the studio as well as a violin which I can't play. In my project band I play guitar. I can sing also, not that I think I,m good at it but I can and do. I would love to be able to play more instruments but you have to draw a line somewhere.
I started by playing guitar and drums and signing in school, then I got a keyboard arranger and a drum machine.
Before the pc revolution I could play a midi sequencer like Slash can sherd a guitar. Haven't had to do that for a decade.
@Hink - love your signature, I have a similar saying: "I love it when things go wrong, because that's when I learn the most"

Keys for me as well. Improving all the time; I've gone from downright abominable to just plain crappy!
At this rate, I'll end up being below average in a few years

Keys here too .. Ive been learning piano for a few years .. Still got a loooong way to go, and I'm still below average at best.
My second instrument is the didjeridoo.
I also play a bit of guitar, which I found significantly easier to get the hang of, coming from the piano. I also took tabla lessons for a few months, but stopped a while ago and am now completely out of touch.

I play ztar all day long and twice as long on Sunday. The better I get at it the less I think of it as a guitar or midi guitar. I play guitar as well and for awhile I was a gigging bass player, I've played mandolin, banjo and keys. I've also played electronic drums (never had a real set)
