Even though there is no fancy browser, the patches are well-names, well organized and well-programmed. Besides the synth itself sounding so nice, it is really wonderful that I have such a huge palette of sounds to choose from.
I agree! This is one synth that maintains a "Classic VST" status for me, and I'll continue using it with 64-bit systems, even though it is only a 32-bit app. :-) The day this plugin stops working on a 64-bit system using a vst bridge of some sort will be a sad day for me.

Thanks :-)

Btw, even if the primary goal was to copy the original factory sounds I personally ended up liking the patches in the additional not planned user sounds bank the most. Some outtakes:

These new presets are really great Peter, great job! :)
Thanks so much for creating these.

From those "outtakes" you mentioned, I really like that Negative Sync Unison, sounds awesome :harp:

Just great! Thank you for these extra sounds. OP-X PRO is a fantastic synth!

Thank you for yet another great soundbank for this great synth. Since going 64bit I'm hardly using any 32bit plugins anymore but I still use this one all the time - my absolute favourite VA synth.

So any news on Op-X Pro III? :-)

It would be cool if there was another osc or 2 added in there, maybe one of the 2 could be a sub-osc. Same OP-X sound, but just more of it -hehe :)

I personally would like GUI update, with better display of effects and arp parameters, bigger display of the knobs and stuff maybe, and 64 bit support. I think the top panel could be used for display o parameters, already it gets used for displaying the registered owner when launched, so it seems a natural place for parameter info. Sound-wise i'm cool with it as-is :) unless somehow the filters could be improved with the latest fancy 0ff tech or whatever. Maybe some sort of setting to get it into init mode for certain synths it can imitate well? Anyhow to me it is just about the interface and future compatibility, not the sound at all.

I just had a strange experience with some of the presets of the original Jupiter 8 factory sounds.
As some people know since a while i work on reprogramming the Jupiter 8 factory sounds with Arturia Jupiter 8V myself. Reprogramming the patch sheets is done and now i am working on optimizations. Those will be published as a free bank too as soon as i think they are close enough.

Back to the sound examples in the OP. I have checked the presets called "Harpsichord" and "Echo Piano" as i wanted to use those to improve my own Jupiter 8V presets. The audio demo comparisons in the OP seem to sound very close indeed but when i play the presets myself (with the demo version of OP-X Pro II) they don't seem to sound really close anymore. The "Echo Piano" is sounding more like a Organ (especially if i hold the note) than a Piano for me. MAybe i am the only one who experienced this so it would be interesting to hear if others had a similar experience.

I'll investigate this further and maybe post an audio demo myself to show what i talk about.

Hi Ingo
You must play it in the right way. The piano "pling" in the echo piano preset only comes when you release the key, not when you hold it down. Maybe I could look if I still find the midi file used for the clip.

The clips all have been done whith the factory presets with nothing else added, no external effects, no eq, just pure OP-X PRO-II rendered to disk.

What's wrong with the harpsichord?

Great job Peter!

Anyone who's attempted this stuff knows just how much micro-tweaking is involved sometimes. It can be very ear-fatiguing work.

Did you see Roland just announced their own Jupiter Legacy Collection btw? Before anyone gets excited: it's Roland copying sounds, from several of their past synths, for inclusion with the Jupiter 80 hardware synth. But I couldn't help thinking it'd be quite funny if these OP-X copies managed to stack up better than Rolands own Jupiter 8 copying attempts. So far history might be on Peter's side (cough)VariOS8(cough) ;)

Hi Peter,

here i made two demos, the first one the current version of ma Jupiter 8v preset and the second the same track using your preset with the OP-X Pro II demo version (the silences in the second example are due to the demo limitations):

Jupiter 8V_23 Echo Piano Demo 1

OP-X Pro II_23 Echo Piano Demo 1

here is the first example using a slightly longer Release time for a longer echo effect:
Jupiter 8V_23 Echo Piano Demo 2

No external FXs used in both cases and the only internal FX of the Jupiter 8V is the EQ for some additional lows and some more highs.

For comparison your examples from the OP:
OP-X PRO-II Real Jupiter-8 23 ECHO PIANO

I might be wrong but the preset used in your demo seems to sound significantly different to that in the soundbank.
Instead of replicating the original demo from Synthmania i used it under "real conditions".

I have also exported my track as a Midi-file so you could check it with the full version of OP-X Pro II:

Here are two screenshots of both my Jupiter 8V preset and the original patch sheet:

Anyway i don't claim that my version sound 100% authentic but IMO it sounds so good that i will at least keep it as a variation.

Hi Ingo

Peter's presets sound great, but it would be cool to also have you make a small bank yourself. 8)

Hi,

a nice idea but first i want to finish the Jupiter 8V presets and second i have several other projects to do including some stuff for Tone2 ElectraX and an upcoming Beta test for Tone2.
Besides that i sold a full license OP-X Pro II one year ago, same as Arturia Jupiter 8V... :)
I just re-purchased Jupiter 8V (the first time i did such thing) with the special deal at JRR Shop as found it sounds better than i thought.
