Ever so right! I have both CMI and iym2151 but hardly actually use them as there's no freaking way to export audio. Iirc Peter Vogel (the man formerly known as fairlightDrApostropheX wrote:There really are a ton of pricey apps I'd get (TC-11, PPG WaveGenerator, SampleWiz) if they only supported some form of internal recording and AudioCopy/Paste. How long would it take to implement a metronome, recorder, and even iTunes file sharing? Given some of the dodgy apps which DO feature these, it can't be all that difficult or time consuming to implement.
It still cheeses me off that to get multitrack audio out of GarageBand, I need to use iTunes filesharing and my PC (to unzip the AIFs in the .band file and upload it to DropBox so Auria can access them). Being a performer is all well and good, but I'm a recordist .
As for the topic - I stopped on Groovemaker so far. No Acid, but the layout is quite logical and easy to grasp (keeping in mind I want this to be both recreational for myself and educational for the kid)

If you want a looping app that a kid will really enjoy, and that you will find endlessly inspiring, pick up a copy of WerkBench. My kids LOVE that app (they also love DrumJam for what it's worth... they like layering 20 copies of the old guy "tika bom" head onto the loop window).

Thanks to remind me about Werkbench, got it last night, recorded a few chords, licks, notes from my guitar and the result is pretty neat.
These "toys" are getting really cool. It's great that they can be fun to use even for experimented musicians and still being accessible to kids, newbies, people with some disabilities. Keep them comming ...
Can't wait for low latency air audio and full clock sync with all my devices without cables and/or painfull setups.
