Is there any synth out there that has the sound quality of U-He Diva?

I'm seriously beside myself... I just bought Arturia's Jupiter and that new TAL Juno and totally wish I didn't now... damn it!

I'll try your suggestions.

I have owned Diva for a while and am really happy to have U-no, it is a different synth really, has its own great sound and charm. I can't comment on Arturia's as I haven't tried it.

Wait, scratch that 1.5%, on Divine it peaks at 4% but that isn't bad :) I really don't even think of the CPU at all after upgrading.
I don't have that kind of luck on my MacBook Air's i5. That could be Maschine, though.

Well it's really a "it depends" type thing.
I'm on a 2010 CoreDuo2 2.88ghz macbook pro, and I'm having no problems at all using 4 tracks with 3 of them using long release time type sounds.
Why is my experience different than your better i5 system?
Because, you need to know some tricks to make it work right.
Here's something I did with 4 midi tracks going, in Divine/best mode, and I could have added one more. Multi-threading was NOT enabled either.

The troubles happen when we make the VOICES and VOICE STACKS too high.
Most normal synth, edm, music does not require more than 4 note chords at a given time for each track. So make the voices set at 4 or 6 rather than 16 or 8.
Using more than 2 voice stacks with long release pads and such is really gonna use a lot more cpu than I can handle though.
Some users add 4 voice stack and 16 voices with a long release time, of course it's gonna crush the cpu.
Really it all comes down to the kinds of presets.
If your looking at mono leads and basses, you can't see any difference in cpu usage than any other modern synth.

Those complaining about cpu usage, are simply referring to long release pad type sounds, where their voices are set on or above 8 and their voice stacks are 3 or more. That's it. Any other settings are not going to cause any cpu problems than that mentioned above.
I manage to do with 6 voice, 2 voice stack long release pads with no multi-threading on, and I have no cpu problems.
If I choose 8 voices, then 3 voice stacks, I get problems, unless I turn on multi-threading.
It depends on how many notes you need. From the music I've heard here, most use very few poly chord multi-note parts. Most are sequenced, with some 2 or 3 note pad chords in the mix. So why use 16 voice settings in Diva, when your only playing 3 note chords?
Understand?

Thanks Mcnoone! I'll give that a shot. Mind you, I'm not complaining even at the lowest quality setting. The thing is amazing. The modules? Oh my, it's laid out brilliantly. It's definitely mine tonight no matter what. I must have it now. Never had the GAS so hard in my life.

I've been using Minimonsta live quite a bit because I really like the full sound and think the filter is excellent. Diva puts it to absolute shame. It's not even funny.

Personally, I still use Minimonsta for its impressive and intuitive modulation capabilities. I can program modular sounds with it faster than I can with anything else, including modulars. For sheer sound quality, though, it's DIVA every day of the week, even in Draft mode.

That all sounds good, but I'm sure its against her EULA.

With a first gen i7 from 2009 I can't get over 40% CPU load with divine accuracy but multithreading enabled in Diva, even when I put both arms on the keyboard with long release sounds and cacophonous cluster intentions.

During normal use (occasional but rare 10 note polyphony, sometimes with long releases, divine mode on because of the eargasms) it very rarely goes past 10%. This is at 6ms ASIO latency with an old fireface 800.

Not what I expected after reading this thread.

I find this convenient to work with, and thats a 3.5 year old CPU.

I did not understand what the fuss was about having a few very nice synths myself, but consider me another fanboy. It's as if u-he went into my brain and replicated everything I've always dreamed of. It's ridiculous and shocking really.
Enjoy the ride! :)

To me DIVA is just....just....so..so...

Those three seconds of pure digitalized analogue sound I heard before the demo killed my CPU was the greatest moment of my life.

You say that as if a first gen i7 is outdated technology, that's still double the processors of the i5 in my MacBook Air and the Q6600 in my desktop.

I was wondering about that post. This makes sense now.
