Background audio workaround

I was playing with nanostudio today on my iPhone and wanting to something over it, but it currently does not do background audio. However, I found a cydia tweak called backgrounder that lets it, and other apps, run in the background. Very useful, obviously you need to be jailbroken to do it, yet another reason to do so! Hope it helps someone.

Thanks for the info.
NanoStudio is a great app. The developer is very nice and helpful.
I, however, have not JB my devices for various reasons and at this time I do not plan on doing so. It appears that those who have are experiencing quite a few improvements and I hope that continues.
But should we have to JB in order to do the things we have become accustomed to on our non-iOS setups? I know, let Apple know about it and perhaps if enough complain they will fix it. Or iOS devices are not desktop/laptop devices and that is just the way it is. Or at least its not the latency riddled "other" OS.
OK, time to get off the soap box and enjoy what we do have. I should know better than to post at times like these.
Again, thanks and I hope you and others have success with your work-around.

Backgrounder is amazing and wonderful on ipod touch and iphone, but if you really want to go nuts on an ipad, try Quasar - it is astonishing! It is a little dicey for everyday use, but just use it when performing, and it works beautifully. It'll multitask even uncooperative apps (although it has trouble with iphone only apps), but it is truly a glimpse at what an ipad could be if apple weren't such dicks.I regularly fire up Beatmaker, Thumbjam, iKaossillator, and Magellan, and the easy app switching makes it all flow like wine! Jailbreaking FTW!

I haven't tried quasar, yet. Are you using an ipad 2 or 3? I start getting glitches in beatmaker when I open up a couple synths in the background on my 2.

I'm using iPad 2. Yeah, I got those glitches when switching into and out of Beatmaker also, before JB and with Backgrounder, but they don't seem to occur with Quasar! You may need to find synth apps that aren't finicky about sample rate though - some apps demand a certain rate and kill or glitch apps running at a different rate, they cannot coexist. I have spent a bit of time trying different combinations, and some simply won't work.
We've gotta spread the word, I feel like I am the only person doing this (only 1 Quasar vid on youtube aimed at us musicians). I brought Backgrounder up in the Korg forum (before I discovered Quasar), and got 1 lukewarm response. To me this is huge, and with these tools I can do full fledged performances with 1 gizmo and a wire. Astonishing!
