The new iPhone 5 looks cool but I'm not happy with the new dock connection. How am I going to plug this into Synthstation 25 now as well as it being taller
Unless Apple or any third party companies will make an adapter. It looks like its back to the drawing board for Akai.

it was inevitable, the same will happen to the ipad sized one.
thats why i wont buy peripherals for something with a predetermined shelflife of around 2 years.. :/
(yes i'm one of the people with an ipad1 that is will not be able to upgrade to iOS6)

Because 5.1.1 is the last version that will ever run on an iPad1 (or iPod Touch 3).Mushy Mushy wrote:I have an iPad1. Why cant we upgrade to iOS6?
Dont you want a new shiny? Your old shiny isnt good enough any more. The new shiny is better. You know you want the new shiny. What do you mean, your old shiny is good enough. What are you, a communist or something? Get a f**king NEW shiny. Get it NOW. Thank you for listening, this has been the new Apple ad.

as far as i can tell, 'because apple say so'
it feels like an arbitary cutoff rather than a technical reason, but I could well be wrong.

I do need (and I emphasise need) another one.
My current one (iPad Mk1) will be used solely for magazines, thus enabling me to clear up vast amounts of space where the physical copies currently reside.
The new one (iPad Mk4?) will be the new daily

I'm done with Apple stuff now. I have a MacBook Air, iMac Quad Core and an iPad 2 that I've had for a long time which I am very happy with and I recently bought an iPhone 4S even though the new iPhone 5 was near release. What I don't like about Apple is that they update their gadgets too often. The new shiny iGadget will soon become the old outdated iGadget and so on.

It's not just Apple, though. Android and Windows Phones are now obsolete almost after they are sold. It seems to have quickly reached a point though where these devices are good enough. They now have decent dual/quad core processors and fast graphic GPU's. Compared to my PC, which is 5 years old, it still works for me and I have updated from XP to Windows 7 and will install Windows 8 on it. But with these phones/tablets you are pretty much stuck on how long it is supported. They have been having a nice free ride in the last few years with people eager to buy the latest tech as their have been some significant improvements in CPU/Screen/Graphics but now advancements will slow down.Artmuzz wrote:I'm done with Apple stuff now. The new dock adapter will cost around €30... What a rip:( I can't say the new iPhone is that appealing either. The screen is still pretty small in comparison to the Galaxy, just an 8 megapixel camera and no wireless charging as on the Lumia. Not much innovation but a whole lot of potential frustration for iPad 1 owners and owners of iPad interfaces like the Alesis iDock. Shame really!

Stupid change, making shit different. I'm seriously hoping they keep the big old 30 pin connectors for the future full sized iPad. I totally get why it's been changed for the iPhones and the iPad mini, but what does making EVERYTHING smaller have to do with important stuff like making sure it's all shiny and slightly faster? Oh, and maybe they can make em red cause they would go even faster then. And I want more frequent hardware revisions. More I say! Just stick another "S" after the model number and I'm in. Screw it. I have 2 kidneys. For now.

I have an iPad 2 with Alesis IO Dock, so it will keep working YEARS after the battery goes dead
