I've done a little piano sample taken from an Alesis QS+Pno some time ago... probably it's worth trying (HALion format):

so who is going to do it? :P
Text editor? Please explain.

I'll give it a shot when I get a chance(using the old-fashioned drag and drop method---unless there is a better way).

damn, the Iowa university piano...it's huge.
thanx for the link, pschelfh!

piano.ff.gb3.aiff is missing right now, better contact the authors.

No, take a look at your files in Explorer. It's right there, but you have to change the extension from .aiff to .aif

Can someone explain this new text editor format.

What's the usual way of putting a soundfont together using waves?

 sorry, thanx twice, so.

that's only if you hold them without using the pedal...

Post

Seriously Jens? I think I used the pedal as well and they still cut off in several players :( It was an inconvenience either way because I found I couldn't play naturally and had to keep remembering 'Ok, note is going to cut off, have to lift off my fingers . . now!'

yes, I'm sure :D - I guess it depends on your playing-style - for me it's not a big deal :)

Post

Yes. What style do you play Jens :)?

And... there is no way of fixing it otherwise, right? I haven't been able to find a way to make the notes sustain properly in all cases like on a real piano.

Post

I guess it should be possible fixing it with
any soundfont-editor (e.g. Vienna) by applying
a volume-envelope :?

oh well, about my playing-style:

 I'm not classicaly trained in any way.
I've got an old upright-piano (which is still
at my parents' home)and I improvised and composed
a few years on it but I never took any lessons
and I never tried to play some 'real music'

the new sfz, NOT SF2, format (read the post) is an rgcaudio development for their sfz soundfont player. the format allows a simple text file to define the mapping of wavs in a "soundfont".

Nice Piano v2.5 plays nicely. I don't like the sound itself, but it is fun to play that patch; it's pretty dynamic. I tried splendid, but my machine is too old to handle a patch like that big...

I downloaded the archive but unpacking the .sfarc didn't work properly. At the end sfArk gave the message
"ERROR - UnCrunchWin() returned -15 at NumWords =4096"
and no soundfont was created.

I tried another download and another few unpackings but to no avail.

What can be wrong? Did anyone succesfully decompress this 256 file?
