Just bought Waves NLS.

So i basically spent 780.00 from Sept 3rd to the 12th

I actually made myself sit down and add everything up, and yah time to definitely slow it down. I cant jump on a deal because i think its too good to pass up.

Deal?

Where is this deal?

I just know I am missing a great deal somewhere!

I'd start composing again, but I am afraid I'll miss a 20% off sale email alert.
I mean any good deal I spot, say in the market place or something in a email.

without looking at everything. i have been a big gasser at times. but time and $ can be much more well spent on music theory and ideas in general.

Gear!!!! YEAH!
I have to stop looking at web sites because the salivatory glands start to hurt . not to mention the sadness of checking my account balance and trying to decide to pay the rent or get the latest and greatest synth module..

Its really the reason i ended up designing my own plugins..because i wanted to have something that was not around at the time..now the market is flooded with stuff..but i still think i made something cool and useful

So is there a gearaholics anonymous?
Hi my name is Chaz (HI CHAZ) and i just bought..*pause*..another guitar!.....

Cheers

Let's look at it this way:

We're all musicians. Music is our language of choice. New gears gives you the potential to express your music with another set of words and phrases. So don't deny your gear acquisition syndrome, because that goes against everything that makes you a musician.
Best regards from Johan Brodd.

Well, if you buy stuff that can be resold, then you are better off :D

Ok I finally rounded up what I want to buy next and when I get them all I'll be that step closer to having my perfect setup ;)

I think GAS is serious issue for alot of people.
Its an indictaion of dissatisfaction with life. As is any illogical spending pattern, IMO.

Ive just managed to curb my lust for audio software. It had driven me into debt which of course compounded my general dissatisfaction.

I made more music when I just had a demo of Making Waves and recorded everythinh to cassette

I think GAS is due to the false felling that buying a new synth/effect will help me express something. I've been buying and buying for years and the only thing that helped me express myself musically is improving my skills!

I think its when your in a rut and your not making good music. Its a way of convincing yourself your still a great producer despite the absolute shite that your pumping out.

Its when your bored and tired of looking at your daw and not feeling excited about the shit your putting together.

A new synth or effect is a way of making it a bit exciting for a week or two, till you get bored with that synth.

imo its better to take a several month long break rather than trying to fake/force enthusisam by buying loads of kit.

The process of getting 'out of it' and getting absorbed in some of the other things life has to offer then comming back several weeks, months .. maybe even a year later will do more for your music (and bank balance) than a constant onslought of new kit.

My opinion ovcourse :-)

If New Order hadn't bought a new drum machine "Blue Monday" wouldn't have come about
