Same here. Skipped K7, just bought the K8 upgrade during the big sale a few months ago, and will likely skip K9. But, we'll see what it brings between now and next July. If they keep adding plugins like the new Softube/NI series announced today, I might break my every-other-year routine.mumpcake wrote:I have been on the every other year plan. I get to July and can't seem to decide whether to get on the 50% sale or wait to get the new version.ksandvik wrote:I've purchased the 50% discount upgrades before next Komplete is released for four years now and it works out really well.

I did not have the money at the time for the $110.00 update. Now I do. No $110.00 update. Maybe that's what I'm chapped about.....

I wonder if Kontakt 6 will be much different from Kontakt 5. I like to tweak samples and I absolutely hate Kontakt's GUI to the point where I've stopped using it. I'm on the verge of buying MachFive3 but I don't know if I should wait to see what Kontakt 6 has to offer first.

I'm thinking the Komplete 9 release should be pretty soon.
Komplete 5 was announced in September of 2007

Komplete 8 was announced in September 2011

It's now September of 2012.
They released a new version of Komplete every year starting at Komplete 6.
Shouldn't be too long now.

...just out of interest - may I ask why? I admit, there have also been times when it was a bit annoying going back and forth between the modulators and the editor pages all the time, but when it comes to thinking about how to organise such complex structures better I think there aren't so many solutions left. I have also tried other softsamplers now and then (e.g. Independence and others), but I didn't find any of them as well organised as Kontakt. I think one thing that's most confusing with Kontakt is that it can happen quickly that you're editing multiple groups at once or that you don't know which group you're currently editing. And this can be very frustrating when you've tweaked the wrong envelope for the 100th time. A solution would be being able to colour groups so that you can tell from the colour of the group's modules in which one you're working. So, what else is annoying?digaldeman wrote:I absolutely hate Kontakt's GUI to the point where I've stopped using it.

- Editing groups can be a nightmare because sometimes I end up editing the wrong groups.
- The windows are tiny
- the font is too small
- The slicer is annoying to work with
- Scrolling up and down is horrible.
- If there is an error msg, the little error window gets hidden behind the main GUI.
The overall workflow killed my creativity.
I used Hypersonic when I first started making music and I really enjoyed the process. As I got more serious, I thought I needed something the pros used. That's how I ended up buying Kontakt a few years ago. Since then my productivity has significantly slowed down. I watched tutorials and I've tried to use it everyday but it never clicked. REAPER didn't click initially but after a couple months, it clicked.
Kontakt seems to be great for playing big libraries but it's horrible for guys like me who love to create their own sampled instruments/sounds. Instead of fighting with Kontakt, I've decided to buy Machfive 3 and hopefully move on.

I want to buy Komplete 8 right now but with the ongoing promotion and the release of new machine on 1-st October , it looks like there will be a better deal than the 3 extra products that you get for free now ( Razor.SS.Mouth) .
Maybe on 1st October there will released Komplete 9? Or maybe they will do some good deal like was with the machine cross-grade last month ?
Just don't want miss the current deal if nothing new come next month =/
Buy now or wait ?

Only buy if you need to use it now. Otherwise wait.

Also, Kontakt doesn't sample.
My experience is similar with Kontakt. I stopped using it and finally took it off my machine.
As you say Kontakt is for big libraries and not for the person who wants to do their own sampling/crafting of sounds. Not that it cannot do the job, but it is not efficient or fun really.

People tell me I am crazy when I say that lol. The only reason to use Kontakt is for the huge multisampled instruments imo which sound good but its a large part of why I only use the player and wouldn't use it as a Rompler.pdxindy wrote: As you say Kontakt is for big libraries and not for the person who wants to do their own sampling/crafting of sounds.
