lol true u got me there in that context. I meant more so for a large library of sounds as opposed to a specialized kind of sound. When I think of Kontakt I think of huge piano patches like Alicia's keys not so much of a workstation like I think of when I say Rompler. When I need a wider variety of sounds at once I think of a Rompler like Sampletank when I want a highly detailed piano patch I think Kontakt.VitaminD wrote:I'm confused.. I thought a rompler IS a player??KevWestBeats wrote:People tell me I am crazy when I say that lol. The only reason to use Kontakt is for the huge multisampled instruments imo which sound good but its a large part of why I only use the player and wouldn't use it as a Rompler.pdxindy wrote: As you say Kontakt is for big libraries and not for the person who wants to do their own sampling/crafting of sounds. I'm actually need Kontakt5 the most from this package but if there is something big to come I may consider wait 2 more weeks and maybe miss the opportunity to the extra 3 products for free .aLeksVolt wrote:WhySoLazy? wrote:I want to buy Komplete 8 right now but with the ongoing promotion and the release of new machine on 1-st October , it looks like there will be a better deal than the 3 extra products that you get for free now ( Razor.SS.Mouth) .
Maybe on 1st October there will released Komplete 9? Or maybe they will do some good deal like was with the machine cross-grade last month ?
Just don't want miss the current deal if nothing new come next month =/
Buy now or wait ?
Only buy if you need to use it now. Otherwise wait.
Any other opinions about my question ? Is there something big to expect next month ?

...yup - that's also a bit annoying. I started to use the quick-load feature instead, which pops up at the bottom.digaldeman wrote:- The browser is clumsy. Opening and closing the browser shifts the GUI to the left or right.
...that's probably one of the biggest issues with Kontakt and I don't know why NI hasn't fixed this some versions ago. I hope they will consider a colour option for the groups. Or make the "EDIT ALL GROUPS" button even biggerdigaldeman wrote:- Editing groups can be a nightmare because sometimes I end up editing the wrong groups.
...you must have a large screen then.digaldeman wrote:- The windows are tiny
- the font is too small
...it's total crap - nothing beats Recycle!!digaldeman wrote:- The slicer is annoying to work with
...it is, but the quick-jump buttons between the modules and the modulators have made life a bit easier.digaldeman wrote:- Scrolling up and down is horrible.
Thanks for your answer. All of these are valid points and a lot of times I have felt the same way. However, having dealt with Kontakt's GUI concept intensively I have some doubts that such complexity could be presented in a simpler way (and for a number of different screen sizes and resolutions). Unless Kontakt gets a feature that allows you to arrange the different windows and editors, most likely there will always be complaints about its GUI.

I think Guitar Rig is in desperate need of an overhaul.
Things like AXE-FX2 exist now. Even within software,
Guitar Rig is long in the tooth when it comes to amp
emulation.
They should just do a Reaktor on it and rebuild from
the ground up. Still a massive market compared to
synths.

Hey fellas. I bought complete 8 about a year ago and have to say I am really happy with it. I have many instances in several projects but have a question. If I upgrade to lets say komplete 9 or 10 even and I open my old projects that are using kontakt 5 and lets say versions 9 or 10 have kontakt "6" or so will kontakt "6" be reverse compatible or will I have to keep all past versions of kontakt on my machine?
I have plenty of room but if this vst drug in my system gets any worse I will need to enter rehab. It would be nice to just keep the newest version on my system but if I have to keep the old ones on there for my current projects than so be it.
So that is my question, thanks fellas

...no, you would get a missing plug-in message. NI's plug-ins aren't backwards compatible - so it would be the same with Absynth, Battery, GR, FM8 etc. Best would be to save all the presets & multis you've created in your project folders...Doc Brown wrote:Hey fellas. i think this statement depends on what libraries you own... and having the computer power to run them...KevWestBeats wrote:lol true u got me there in that context. here is one of your videos...
it appears... after running that e piano patch and guitar rig pro... there is not much cpu left to run other kontakt powered libraries... in that case... Sampletank is ideal... i.e. low cpu usage... but if you had a more powerful machine... kontakt wins hands down... the Kontakt Factory Library has the same file structure as Sampletank... i.e. bass, brass, drums, guitar, piano, e piano, etc... and the actual patches are smaller in the Kontakt Factory Libraries compared to the Kontakt Powered Libraries... i.e. Kontakt Factory Libraries are not as detailed as the Kontakt Powered Libraries... i.e. scrabee bass compared to the basses in the Kontakt Factory Library...
i feel if you owned more kontakt powered libraries and a stronger machine... your views would be different... but i do agree... if you are struggling with CPU power... Sampletank is a good compliment to running a kontakt patch or two...

but my money is burning my pockets waiting for these updates!!!
i am thinking Oct 1... the Komplete line will be updated...
i am looking forward to The Giant, Damage, some of the Maschine Libraries and the new tube effects... for $199 i will be a happy camper!!!

For $199 I think a lot of people would be happy campers. But something tells me that $199 won't be the upgrade price point for KU9. Too many big ticket items are in the mix. I could be wrong, but I wouldn't count on that.neverenoughfunk wrote: i am looking forward to The Giant, Damage, some of the Maschine Libraries and the new tube effects... for $199 i will be a happy camper!!!

i own Komplete Ultimate 8 already... what else could NI add to the Komplete Ultimate 8 package except for The Giant, Damage, some of the Maschine Libraries (not all but some), and the new tube effects?BERFAB wrote:For $199 I think a lot of people would be happy campers. anything less would not be worth $199 update price!!!
