They are not that high end, they are niche products that serve a certain type of cinematic sound that is actually fairly overdone but still in demand. They are quick solutions for people who need it for work and are able to pay the high prices (and some like it for regular music as well of course). But no it isn't in the same league as Omnisphere, which has more than twice the sample content for similarly prices samplelogic products, with far far superior instruments in terms of instrument design (expressiveness etc.), not to mention having a full dsp synth and powerful features not found in Kontakt. I mean Come on, Omnisphere is an actual full standalone product, SAmple Logic make libraries for Kontakt. Sample Logic are certainly good at sound design and therefor useful for certain types of music and television/movies, but they are not expressive instruments like you get from the likes of Omnisphere, SonicCouture, ToneHammer (or what was split off from it) etc. I don't know much about Cinematic guitars but their older libraries like elements and morphestra were largely contained of single sample instruments. Very different from the deep sampling and synthesis of Omnisphere.

People who think Omnisphere is overpriced are thinking of it in terms of a soft synth (where most of those go for 200 or less). But when you compare the library to something like Cinematic guitars, it suddenly seems like a pretty good deal. But if Sample Logic can charge what they do and professional composers/post-production folk will pay, then all the power to them.

I meant in terms of sample quality, not quantity. Sample Logic's libraries don't match Omnisphere in depth or breadth, but the quality is every bit the equal of Omnisphere's.

And really, Omnisphere is a bit of a niche product, too. It's not what I reach for when I need, well, anything as far as basic sounds go. There is no piano, no recognizable B3, only very generic strings, no standard percussion. It's what I turn to when I want to put on some icing to a nearly-finished song. Just like Cinematic Guitars.

im glad that they showed their bad face now, i told people here before and in private about the smell and experience i have with them, most here didnt believe me. and of course they will or maybe try to be nicer again or just give a f**k about this community.

Eric Persing will agree with you on that.
I went awhile back to ILIO to see a demostration of Omnisphere. Eric and Diego were there showing Omnisphere.

Someone did ask that same question, where are the piano's, organs, etc...
He said, you want those, look at other libraries. Omnisphere was never meant to include those but to get you creative on using the existing presets and creating your own unique presets.

Some also don't like the fact that you can include your own audio files as sound sources.
That doesn't matter to me, I mean, not only do you get a sh*t load of presets, you still have sound sources within Omnisphere where can create your own preset. :D

sure but with omnisphere you still get some great stringpatches which are just stunning sounding and also nice piano patches and more!
even if it wasnt intended for it you get a lot!

so many products are jsut useless like from sample logic, morphestra? why would you need it? cinematic guitars? synergy? i dunno they are so mixed bags, you have a very few great patches, the most are generic, and you know what? with omnisphere you have a full synthesizer with MASSIVE OPTIONS, over a hundred of sample cds in there so to speak of, a great and easy GUI, you have so many styles covering nearly EVERYTHING!

the price of 300-400 bucks is a steal somehow compared with other products, just alone the sample library you get there is worth 2000 bucks and more!

Exately. I'm sure some people in S-logic bite the tongue. In present day's heavy global competition and economic recession not any developer/marketing organization can afford the attitude S-logic represented here - no matter how good their products are. Very often top tech-expert aren't best marketing people (and other way round, sometimes feels like so called client support people don't know almost anything about the company's product). One great advantage of Internet for the customer is that is makes the operation of companies more transparent, grapevine is very effective and forces the market operators improve their performance. well doesnt matter where they work, a certain kind of respect and social manners should be within every human, sadly it isnt.

Wait wait wait...
I need to mark my calendar... Caine123 is totally shredding a product he paid a ton of dosh for it?

I'm also in for the overpriced tag, but this general vibe regarding sample prices is new to me. I remember the usual other way around from most people: "you don't have to buy it, yadda-yadda".

I realize this thread is really old and apologize, but can anyone help me figure out how to get to the waveform editor? I have absolutely no idea how to open that section. Sorry for the dumb question, any help would be hugely appreciated!
Ha ha suck it!

I don't think a user manual even exists for this instrument.. and, good luck getting any actual help from anyone at SL.

How is this company still even in business?..

Anyway.. if it's anything like CG1.. there is no way to change the stock waveform(samples) for each instrument, from within the scripted UI, that I'm aware of.

You would have to pop open the Kontakt instrument (wrench in upper left corner) and navigate to the mapping editor section.. and manipulate the samples yourself, to change or edit them.

This, of course.. would require the full version of Kontakt, and some knowledge on how to create/tweak raw Kontakt instruments (something I'm still learning).
