I've known many people who said to me without any kind of remorse: "Hey, I've got some DAW's and good plugins on my computer, I don't need them anymore, you can have them all, I copy them for you..."

But I said no, I don't want your cracked stuff. If I would use it, my reputation would be gone forever...

If some people have less money, they should study what they already have and what they can afford. And there are enough (good) free plugins and samples and even free DAW's out there to make music without any money.

you can make music with wurst only, but it's not free and you can't download it.

When i was younger I used to hang out with alot of other wannabe producers. In that time I was using Reason 5 mostly which I had saved up and bought on the same day it was released. I have all the receipts backed up for every purchase I made for my current plugins. When i was younger i will admit I had the chance to use some warez from friends. I actually know a few famous producers *before they were famous* who I met who used warez. I stuck to using Reason & Live because I wanted to stay legit. Once I sold reason, I started buying my plugins and this whole G.A.S thing started.

I've only been on KVR for a short while, but I can tell you that a big part of my G.A.S is thanks to the KVR marketplace.

Also its fun to watch people who use warez struggle with "Bugs" or problems that kill their computer

Obviously I won't names about the people I know, because they would flat out deny it. I do have the evidence, but the whole tar and feather mob mentality on KVR isnt something i like to partake in.

TBH its sickening that people think software they use arent worth the money, or they would rather spend the money on partying or something else. Personally I am proud to support the community and be a part of it.

Sure when your younger and poor, It's easy to get into the whole "If I don't make money with it, then its ok" mentality or "As long as im just learning with these its ok, because the Demo is too restricting" etc etc

In the end its still just WRONG, all the developers who make these tools deserve the money.

No one who has a PC is so poor they can't afford an issue of CM, which could keep them busy for years.

Back on the subject of G.A.S. (which I have to admit I have a bad case of)... Is it my imagination, or are men more prone to G.A.S.? I have four daughters, and between all of them and my wife - I can't recall any one of them having bad G.A.S. Maybe I just haven't paid close enough attention, but in general - I have seen and heard more men with G.A.S. It's been rare when I have even heard of a woman with G.A.S. problems. Maybe they just keep it to themselves better?

hold up yo............you are saying that women are LESS prone to G.A.S.? To the women I know, shoes and clothes are at least AS important to them as "gear" is to us.

I went through a period a few years back where I was buying (and sometimes selling) a lot of stuff. I've tapered off considerably. When I listen back to the songs I've recorded over the last few years, the gear had little to do with why the things that worked worked...it was a decent musical idea delivered with some conviction that made the good ones fly, not the toys. One of the best ones was done with nothing but 20-odd instances of Zebra and a vocal.

Such a true statement, but for many of us, it's the journey. I love being a gear ho. I don't harm anyone, it's my money. I'm not going to lose my house over it.

In the end, shiny things make my happy. Sometimes, I make others happy with my deals

I'm stuck with a couple of things, i don't really have any regrets except one.

Hosts. I f**king hate hosts

They are evil wrongs that cannot be trusted with ONE SINGLE CENT of my money. Oh bugger, I'm thinking about the X2 update
