Why did the guy that doesn't like Pitch Class Theory click on the pitch class theory thread in the first place? Sounds like a guy looking for some cheerios to pee in.

Schoenberg, in fact, was employed teaching conventional harmony using the conventional terms. Everyone in the class understood these terms. Pitch class can be useful for TONE ROWS in SERIAL DODECAPHONY.

I never once said nor implied I don't like pitch class theory. It isn't useful as a starter to understand how to know what notes are known to be described in chord symbols. It is used here to avoid normal means, reading music.

It's pretentious and daft and I am here to disabuse people of an unnecessary waste of time.

why did you go into a thread where modes where talked about clearly, not knowing at all what you were talking about, just completely ignorant nonsense? As if you had the answer for someone?? That stinks up the joint considerable. Welcome to this board! You ought to approach music theory as a noob with less arrogance.

Oh the irony. You are absolutely the LAST person that should be accusing others of "stinking up a joint", being arrogant, or looking foolish. Take an anger-management class or two, get some therapy, do whatever you need to do, but find a better way to deal with life than recklessly lashing out at strangers on the internet.
