AlphaCM presets into FreeAlpha 3?

I've just installed the latest FreeAlpha 3 (v3.2.0) on this PC.

On an old PC I was using AlphaCM (2006 vintage!) and I copied its presets across to this PC. But FreeAlpha 3 will not load the AlphaCM presets. Is there something I've missed?

was reading some old discussions, where it said that alphacm was actually freealpha + a couple of extra features, and alphacm presets wouldn't load into freelpha. i think it's expected.

the linplug site doesn't look like this is true... however, i checked the plug, and the linplug website is wrong... alphaCM DOES have the ringmod, one extra feature from the freealpha (unless it's updated too?) (it also has the ability to set the number of voices down to 1, unlike freealpha). not much change but enough to break the presets, i'm guessing.

what's new that you updated for?

... well it was about 6 years newer and had 1 more filter and 4 more voices. Click on the FreeAlpha tab here for a comparison. PS FreeAlpha does have Voices: mono.

Perhaps I should switch to the old AlphaCM instead?

in the FreeAlpha tab was a bit off, it catched a few mistakes while transfering the site to the new layout/server. And yes, AlphaCM or AlphaKEYS are not expected to load into FreeAlpha. However, all free variants do load in Alpha itself. Yep, I know, it costs money. I doubt we'll do a updated CM version soon, just to busy with other projects.
Thanks for using FreeAlpha / AlphaCM anyway !
