hi guys

as from title

how many vst instruments do you generally open in cubase? i ask because most of time i open more than 12 ( including kontakt for studio drummer, zebra, alchemy)and furhthermore, i always use a bunch of effects on them ( alloy)

despite i own a i7 3 GhZ processor, sometimes cpu usage is very high ( 60-70%)

i just wanted to know if it is normal

Post

200 (+/- 199)

Average of 50 tracks per project with easily 4 FX on each

Depends on whether your instruments/effects are CPU hungry or not i guess. :)

you are perfectly right; lets say that i use ( and it is really near to truth given that i always use these synths)

1 Alchemy

1 Kontakt ( with 2 instrments opened inside it , studio drummer and pre bass)

2 sylenth1

2 fxpansion amber

3 dune

1 orange tree strawberry guitar ( opened with kontakt 5 player)

1 zebra

1 padshop

and each of these instruments has about 3 plug in in the insert effect panel

so this is a very realistic situation...do you think it is normal that my cpu usage goes so up ?

i repeat..i have intel i7 960 3.06 Ghz and 12 gb ram

thanx !!!

Hmmm... I have i5 and can run much more than that. I've had 20 synths run for some projects and then there's all the tracks of done with multiple instances of Kontakt, 15 to 20.

So that does sound like a bit of an unusual spike to me.

I just listened to some of your soundcloud, and I don't know how you are using that many tracks. Just sounds like, womp womp womp drowned in reverb with no changes. That's fine, it's not my style, but I just don't know why you would need 10 tracks for that, much less 50! :)

Anything between 1 and 100, or 200.

Post

None.

But mostly because I don't use Cubase.

This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

So you're assuming:
a) the tracks on there are finished
b) the tracks uploaded fall bang in the middle of the "average" range
c) that SoundCloud is my only alias.

;)

His other alias was Gary Glitter but that got a bit messy after a while. :|
