Hi, I know this is an old thread but it is the only one I could quick find on the iRig Pre. I just used it for the first time, and I have a mic that requires phantom power. I was rolling along fine in my new iPad doing my vocals and then suddenly the unit started slowly, at first, oscillating, volume going up and down, and then after a few more minutes it sounded like a tremelo, couldn't do vocals at all. It's a brand new unit, I just put in the battery. I turned it off, turned the iPad off and then booted everything up again, and after about 5 minutes it started doing the same thing again, slowly at first and then quicker and quicker. So I just went and got my SM 58 to finish the session harmonies. Can you explain why it is doing this? Should I take it back to the store, is it defective? thanks

Peter, is it truly 48volt phantom?
Because there's a lot of devices saying they have phantom, but it's really only 9-12 volts which could screw up some mics and devices.
If it is really 48volts then a pat on the back is in order for you guys.

That's what I am suspecting, that it didn't have enough power to sustain even 15 minutes of power to my AT 4040 mic. If that is the case then it is unusable. May as well get a USB mic.

Yes indeed it is. Technical issues can be resolved via our official support channels, as it is truly providing 48V phantom power.

Support was lightning fast, told me to go get it exchanged because it shouldn't happen at all. So I did, checking it out later tonight. Thank you.
