Is there any synth out there that has the sound quality of U-He Diva?

I like that method too... Diva made me learn more about the value of the highpass filter!

You say that as if a first gen i7 is outdated technology, that's still double the processors of the i5 in my MacBook Air and the Q6600 in my desktop.
i7 has 6 cores, i5 has 4 cores. So only 50% more cores. (And yes, i3 has 2 cores.)

True for now but before the i7 had 4 cores (some models 2 cores) and i5 2 cores.

I hadn't heard that so I went https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_I ... processors here. What a freakin mess! Glad I've been AMD 10+ years...

I was OT in the wrong topic. Nevermind...

Only the 39xx's have 6 cores. Most i7's have 4 cores with 4 "hyperthread" cores for a total of 8.

Only two of those do, but ALL of the 900 Gulftown series do/did. Check the link I posted earlier to get the full picture. Frankly, I'm shocked at the seeming casting about Intel did with the i7s. I haven't looked, but I'll bet the i5s and i3s are just as sordid. It's like they came up with the moniker and THEN tried to make the chip...

Here's a link to a free synth... http://antkai.com/2011/04/19/53
There are also some other very good free synths out there, check out some listed on http://www.vst4free.com Krakli(sp?) and H.G.Fortune make buckets of synths they give out for free.

The links I checked when I saw it only showed the 2, so sorry bout that. But it's more fair that many have the 4 (or 8 with the HT) in the desktop variety. I don't know how much good it does (my i7 is the 860) to have those extra cores in most daw situations. CPU use varies so radically from reaper, to sonar, to studio one......it's totally INCONSISTENT.

As an example of GHz still being the real king, I get basically the same results with maschine (a single core) on either my 6750, or the i7. If the i7 was so much better per core, I'd get significantly better results, right?

Wrong here. I can only go by loading plug-in "a" in similar circumstances.

Yes it gets a bit confusing if you don't follow up! There's so many different versions.

Mine's a revisited 920 (like a 2nd gen which is a bit more efficient power wise). It's dated from about end of 2009. Runs great for audio video prod. I'm thinking about a dual board with 2 6 cores but it'll be next year for sure. Diva runs great though on what I have.
