Ingonator wrote:The Slim Phatty is no real replacement for a Minimoog model D but it could do several things the Mini was not able to do. I guess the Phatty could be better compared to e.g. a Source and/or Prodigy instead of a Mini.
This I very much agree with. I got a Prodigy because someone recommended it as a "second best" to the Minimoog but the distance between them is just too great for me. I much prefer the Minitaur.

I did a head-to-head comparison with a customer of the ATC, Little Phatty, and the Scope Minimax. In that test, the ATC won, the Minimax was a very close second, and the Little Phatty was a very distant third. Of course, all that means is the Minimax is better at sounding like an ATC than a Little Phatty is, it just happens to be that that customer and I are both huge fans of that sound. That customer bought a Scope card that day.

A cached version of Music Radar says the Prodyssey ASB was 749 pounds. Today, that's roughly $1216.00. Ebay has an Odyssey MKII 2813 for $1900.00......
Maybe the ASB's would do better if they were released today instead of back when the prices were roughly equivalent. ;)

Back on topic:

Just received an email from d16, stating that a discount on LuSH-101, WILL be offered to registered customers, and a notice sent on the day of release.

Sorry, I'm going to hound you on this as long as you keep making this claim. Remember the last time you posted a nice demo of audio gear? It made quite a dent on my bank account.
Maybe you missed my reply on the other thread:

In these two examples, one was done with Scope synths and one was done with ATC's. Which is which?

I did miss these, and they both sound very good, but I was hoping for something more fair, like an A-B comparison of the same sorts of things and including stuff that tends to break in VA like high resonance full bandwidth sweeps and what not.

I've learned my lesson to not take the bait and try and what's what as almost all software and hardware VAs can come dangerously close in well defined situations... but if I had to guess I'd say that number 1 was the ATC, but that's almost a random guess at this point.

Also, this is all coming out of the Plugiator? What do the Scope hardware DSPs offer, multiple instruments at the same time? I have to say that Scope's webpage is very confusing.

If you send me an audio file from your ATC, I'll try to match it with Minimax. My ATC's are all at the JRR studio.

You win! :)

These are all out of my Scope card. It provides multiple instruments, many more voices, and total integration into my system (the synths load as VST's). The downside is it's a massive PCI card that will certainly be worthless to anyone else in a few years (it's amazing that it still has some value now!).

I won one! That never happens!

I guess what I'm getting at is there is a giant price difference between the Plugiator and the Scope stuff and I can't believe the audio output of the Plugiator is as good... though I could be totally wrong. I just can't seem to find anyone posting about it or very many examples, though I have found some great ones.

I've cut myself off from adding another synth to my collection. I don't have the inputs or the room. So what would I get rid of to add this... and do I care or is it just fun to think about new synths?

Oh, hadn't you heard? We've already decided it's not good and you should buy hardware instead.

He was obviously referring to the inevitable overwhelming demand for a dedicated knob-4-knob, slider-4-slider, button-4-button, HARDWARE controller for the LuSH-101, which is worth waiting for, instead of jumping the gun with only the non-integrated software.

That's how I read it. :D
