xoxos ... I don't know your location, but i'm willing to bet you didn't know what a hog was. So i'll guess you Googled it. :D

To spacedad: Sorry for the hog references, I got you mixed up with another xxxxdad, who is also named Gary.

Gotta say though ... rockabilly makes me wanna fire up the still for some moonshine. :hihi:

re: gary, ty for the clarification.. i didn't know what the deal was but i figured there had to be some kinda mixup there

friend o mine used to collect 50's "juvenile delinquent" tracks..

used to work here for a while.. ironwoodpigsanctuary.org (tho i rode a dual purpose at the time.. the hog would just go all over the place)

Hi xoxos
Started experimenting with Element last night for a few hrs.
This session was a 'jump right in' without having to think much session, so my actual learning was limited.
I was getting some cool loops going, and that was fun enough for last night, but now I want to sit down, understand it more while working with each of the parameters.
My question is;
What sort of .wav file content might be ideal for better 'hearing' the effects of changing/altering parameters? Could you recommend something or maybe post a little something? Would help me a great deal, and save me lots of time obsessing.

Thanks. :D

@xoxos,if i set loop off and make the start pos 0,and end time 0.25 i get the sample playing all the way through.
shouldn't start/end time cut off sample?
start pos is working ei trims the begining, but end pos ain't.
am i doing something wrong?

Post

@annode,stick a breakbeat in there and you'll hear what it's doing.

thanks for finding it.. i'll have a look later.. it's quite possible that i added something after the start/end that nullified it.

speech is also very easy to logically perceive sequence.

finally remembered..

the sample4 SEM and source code has a similar bug for the loop position voltage out signal.. worked, then i added something.. i'll add the fix (one line, very simple) later too.

cool,thanks.

updated the vst so the end knob does what it says now :p

(still haven't updated the sems.. none of the looping versions will stop at 'end', busy days tho)

Thanks for the audio file recommendations guys.
The quirky loop-end function was a big part of my listening dilemma, although I didn't catch it. ( a big thanks to spacedad. :D )
That fixed, i'll surely be able to get a better sense of it. :)

Having a good time with Element so far xoxos but understanding what's going on is not coming as easily and as quickly as i'd like.
I have a basic understanding of general modular routing, and can figure out the common synths with routing features. I did read the pdf, but i'm still having troubles. Some of the jargon used in the doc is not within my experience.

I'm hacking at it a little at a time...and it will eventually completely reveal itself. Until or before then if anyone reading this could explain it, or show it graphically to me in a Layman language , i'd much appreciate it.

I really wanna master this.
Thanks guys.

Ok I got it playing a full song wav, took me a bit to find that the volume env had zero sustain and a slow attack going.

I'm not going to attempt the mod matrix elements, that stuff does my head in.

modules updated to 'end' correctly.. previous links to sem files removed, all sems now at:

http://www.xoxos.net/sem/samplemodules.zip

(includes a text file about what line to change if you've already started modifying the source code)

daaaang, i bet it took a while to load a whole song wav :p

dunno, annode.. i see it as bog standard except the wrap/bounce and crossfading, which are both semibog. my vst have had the same modulation scheme for years now.. folks don't seem to mind it none.

It loaded very quickly! I've always disliked mod matrixes, I prefer a focus on one way only.
