Ok, I just had a couple of toes lopped off (diabetes) and now standing to play is.. difficult.

I'm looking for recommendations on a chair to sit in whilst playing. Anyone got any ideas?

All help appreciated.

I know this all too well. I'm about 400 lbs., so I can't just take any old chair -- the cheaper, thinner ones might go out right from under me. Seriously, brand doesn't matter near as much as simply finding something comfortable, which means shopping around. I'd suggest a padded seat, padded back, and probably without arms. And you might want to get a footrest.

I have my mesa boogie head on the floor and I use that as a footrest but a footrest is important. My chair (a tall back desk chair) has arms but they never get in the way.

At a safety trade-show, I saw an office chair with no arms, tall backrest, with the backrest cut out at the shoulder blades, that was incredibly comfortable, supported the back, without a bulky interference of where one's arms need to be. It was from Kare products in Boulder, CO but it is not on their website. I have contacted them to see if they can post it because I think it would sell like wildfire to guitarist home recordists. (not that there's a huge market of us, but hey - let's try to kindle that fire right?)

I've been in contact with Kare products - they say that they will have something up on their site by week's end. I'll post back here once I see it.

I'm telling you - even though this chair was not designed with guitarists in mind, it was designed for back support + freedom of arm movement. What does that look like?

sounds like it could be a good one for a lot of us.

my wife suggested them a few times for other ppl as well.

you definitely could also use a foot rest as well...even a small stool would work...

for me when I'm sitting and playing I'm leaning forward so the back and arms are not a factor but I'm not very tall
