Nice. Yet another dev that has a phony 1/2 off sale and then permanently lowers the price a week after the sale ends. It's a good product but that's a shit tactic. I just knew he'd never get 70 bucks for it.

I owned a Juno 6 and also a Juno 60 for long periods of time and I just wanted to say this plug in with the new V2 filters is getting a lot closer to the real deal. Thanks TAL! (the Juno 6/60 were my favorite synths ever) I would have happily paid $70 for this if they had kept the price up but got in on the original offer. Heaps more rad than hunting down an old hardware monster that would cost $600 in Australia and need servicing : )

While I also think 70 bucks is not cheap, I don't think it is a shit tactic. He didn't have to lower the price, but did so anyway. Why wouldn't he try to win more customers? He is also a kind of businessman...SAW75 wrote:Nice. Yet another dev that has a phony 1/2 off sale and then permanently lowers the price a week after the sale ends. It is a musician's synth, a great-sounding bread-and-butter synth almost any musician can use for all kinds of sounds before having to study manuals and spend hours on tweaking zillions of parameters. Insofar it is even worth the 70 bucks. I use it all the time now in my music, it sounds very nice in the mix
The only thing I have come to do is not use both chorus stages at the same time anymore, usually that only hurts the good sound quality of the oscillators and filters, unless I deliberately want that muddy sound character like with Rhodes emulations.
Is it me or is version 2 a bit louder?

Its a price adjustment in the consumer's favor!SAW75 wrote:Nice. Yet another dev that has a phony 1/2 off sale and then permanently lowers the price a week after the sale ends. It's a good product but that's a shit tactic.
Fact is this level of quality and attention to detail for less than $100.00 is a steal and we got spoiled rotten by hardworking developers who let quality work and time go for little to nothing.
Only a small handful of plugins have reached this level of hardware accuracy, and they all retail for over $150.00. Why attack the most generous developer of the bunch with charges of conspiracy?
So many spoiled people on these forums who lack perspective. Synth Developers like TAL, Martinl, MartinC should be regarded our best friends and encouraged now and then with a little donation. TAL even gives away a free version in both x86 and x64 formats which has been used on several professional recordings.

Yeah some complained $70 was too much, and so we see a price reduction. It just looks to me the developer is being flexible, not sneaky. $40, or $35 which I guess is what the complain it, is a steal. Be happy, who is the loser here?

Actually I couldn't care less either way. Diva blows it away. Personally I'm glad I didn't get burned on my Tal impulse buy. Sold it right before the price reduction.
There is nothing wrong with his price now or the synth. There are times though when devs should be more clear about pricing from the beginning. Reminds me of the MixControl drama. Nothing wrong with TeamDNR or MixControl either... it's just best for the customer to know when to buy something for themselves and not because they think they are going to get hosed on the price if they don't jump immediately.
My point is clear enough to understand.

You've got the wrong guy. Try calling out the jerks who PM me wanting 85% savings on a synth everytime I try to sell one at the marketplace. I resent your comment. My post is more about wanting a developer to not be fishing for the "right price" a month or two after a synth is released.electro wrote: So many spoiled people on these forums who lack perspective.
I'm spoiled because I say that? Screw you.

Yeah, I understand it doesn't look very good when an "introductory price" suddenly becomes the "regular price". If you want to keep everyone happy, you really shouldn't do stuff like that.
But come on now... After using excellent 100% free TAL plugins for several years, I must say it doesn't really bother me too much if the first plugin for which they DARE ask some money has a little trouble finding the right price. Of course we can argue endlessly if $30 is a lot of money or not, but considering everything, I'm more than willing to cut them some slack.

Diva costs 2.5 times as much as the Tal. While it has more features, it certainly does not sound 2.5 times as good. Nor can I use as many instances of Diva at the same time without my computer getting in trouble...
And the regular price has always been 70 USD, and with every major new version there seems to be an introductory price. What is so difficult to understand there?!

I guess it is not that easy to find the right price for a synth. Some great-sounding synths such as Charlatan are even for free, which spoils people and makes them forget all the time and effort it takes the programmer to make such a program, especially when they code the whole thing themselves and don't use SE or SM modules. I paid about 55 dollars for an Oberheim SEM emulation, which is a synth of a similar level in my view, yet done in SE, at least partly. Maybe 59 dollars might be an adequate permanent price for the Tal, when at the same time there are no more introductory offers
One might also have to think about who that synth is intended for. I guess it is older people who know and like the hardware, and younger people making certain kinds of music. Not necessarily sound designers painting complex soundscapes. They use different synths, most of which cost way more...
When I test a synth and love its sound, I pay a certain price and will use the synth for years to come. In this case that's maybe 25 cents per week

I've been using TAL's freeware for years and was expecting something a bit special for the first TAL foray into payware - and it is. I really love this unassuming little synth - it was a steal at $35, it's still a steal at $40 and would still be well worth $70.
Personally I hope TAL sells a bucketload of these at whatever price.

For what it's worth, I am very happy with U-NO-LX. It is CPU friendly and sounds great. It is limited in features but it is also hard to make a bad sound with it. It maintains it's analog character at all settings.

Please control your bully instincts ........ there's no need for this vs that! If you want to fight for something or someone, step outside in the real world and help a stranger in need! Work late a couple of nights and donate your surplus to doctors/reporters without borders. Do anything but don't rush in and defend a developer as if they're disabled and spat on ......
