Brilliant system really. Just using video review is something football and tennis should have done LONG ago. Will include your idea for OSC in the upcoming poll.evo2slo wrote:Speaking of sports, in American football a coach can challenge a calling on the field. A wild idea. Why not to store all source files form OSC in any place, so everybody can have a look and learn quickly some new ideas?
Or we just want to save the distance between participans?

I think it will be impossible to get all to share their project files due to competition secrets etc.

Oh, may be it's too late. I was kinda thinking of proposing a limit on number of tracks that one can submit. No big deal if it remains same. Just wanted to see other's thought on it.

I forgot to make clear in question 7 that prize winners would not have to submit their projects publicly, only to an appointed checker (a single individual).

I already voted No on this, but with this clarification, would like to change it to Yes.V'ger wrote:I forgot to make clear in question 7 that prize winners would not have to submit their projects publicly, only to an appointed checker (a single individual).

I would add, "if people ask for it", not necessarily to be forced doing this everytime we get a winner, the contrary, you will get mad every month checking all winner projects, installing all freebies included, etc.V'ger wrote:I forgot to make clear in question 7 that prize winners would not have to submit their projects publicly, only to an appointed checker (a single individual).
Other thing too, is that you wouldn't be able to check all projects, you can't have all DAWs possible to make this.
I don't know if i will vote or not yet. I'm very traditional to when i came to OSC, so i wouldn't change too many things.
Anyway, i found interesting the "just one track per person" rule, or maybe 2 as much or 1 single + 1 collaboration, like in Music Cafe contest.
About the secret voting. How goes this exactly? No name in the entry? Or just voting in the sheet? This would be bad if someone use the name of another forist and there is no a confirmation post in the OSC thread.
I mean.
We go to vote in the sheet. We make our votes, but also, someone uses another forist nickname and put illegal votes. So bad.
So we should at least to post here a "Hey, i made my votes a couple minutes ago". The contrary, the vote won't be valid?
I would use yes if this is the case to proceed.
Have a good day

I was about to vote but stopped. Need some clarity on this:
4: Do you want weighted voting?
How are we implementing this? Or are we just checking the interest right now and if voted high then we will go to next step?
Also, I have the same concern as Irion. Need clarity on secret voting. If it was discussed in previous pages then please let me know I will go back and read. I have missed a few pages in between

Secret voting would be in a form like this rules vote now.
We have actually run secret voting like that before, and even with a system where people would have to write a post here to say they had voted to avoid confusion or cheating, but the whole thing was dropped in a later rules poll.
Weighted voting would have to be clarified more before implementing, just want to measure the interest first like you say SatYatunes.

About weighted voting. Think that would be a pain to vote EACH track that way.
Now only our 5 winners. All tracks.
If we use for example, Mix, Mastering, Feeling Factor ( i liked it or made me bored), Composition, Synth Usage as separate scoring, we have to do it in EACH track.
So one entry per person would be a mandatory field to make things easier in this case. And also, maybe the days to vote to be longer to do all this properly (which to be honest, i wouldn't like to change, i think 15 days it is ok).
I'm not disagree or agree at all, and i'm not trying to push you all in any direction, i just like to show all the points, flaws or virtues of a new possible things coming. Like in a chess match.
Anyway, i would change a bit the vote sheet too, with also, a 'I don't care at all' or 'It doesn't matter if happens' option.
Only 'Yes' and a 'No' is kind of extreme, hehe.
I have somethings that i don't care, or even i don't know it yet.
Or a little text which let us write why yes or why not.
All depends.
Have a nice day

In retrospect all rules should have been up for review as it's a while since last and healthy to do once a year or more, but as it is, the top 5 voting system would still remain only with added weighting (in order to reward certain things about songs more than others etc)
Decided against the 'fish'
option in the poll as I assume everyone visiting would be interested in some way, and people can still choose to vote only on the topic that they care about, there's no need to answer all of them. Should maybe have made that clear from the start. Also, people can chose not to vote at all of course.

Here is how to get the DR number using TT Dynamic Range Meter (Mac version):

If you need to convert the file to 44.1kHz/16Bit as the TT Dynamic Meter requires, you can use a converter like Voxengo r8brain
