Does DP8 have track auto zoom like Sonar and Reaper?
Does Reaper have auto tack zoom then? I wasn't aware it did and I couldn't find it in the latest version. As far as I'm aware only Logic and Sonar have it.

Submit the question to sales instead.
If it means a potentional sale, they'll answer it. :D

64 bit rewire definitely, that's been announced. Don't know whether the slave gets to use multiple cores or not? I can answer that with Live a bit, though who knows if Live itself multicores in rewire in the 64 bit beta they have out?

dp8 not there, not anywhere that I can see, but looks to be about $395 for v7 so guess it'll be same price for v8?

Hi,

Did MOTU finally release the PC version of DP8 ?

Post

Not that I'm aware of. But they'll promise you it's coming.

ttoz wrote:wow it's actually available? would be neat if there was a demo version so i could test THAT with reason rewire.. DP has totally unique pre rendering which would make it amazingly efficient. I wonder if it can rewire multi core. Hmmm.

Yeah,I've been using it since Thursday ;-)
& it's amazing for a .0 release!
No demo version,I've been told the PC version is close.

I've had an on again, off again, and now on again love affair with DP since 2003. Digital Performer does what any DAW does best: allows you to simplify your workflow and make f@#king music! Over the years I've made MANY different types of music with it...metal, techno, acoustic rock, hip hop...so don't let anybody tell you it "can't" do this or that genre. It's simply not true. Yes, digital performer is a sub-culture all it's own...from the way it makes you work right down to the people who use it. Not to mention the fact you get a BIG FAT MANUAL everytime you upgrade it. It's quite a trip really. The truth is (as many users often reiterate) over the years it's consistently been one thing: rock solid.

About 3 months ago my good friend from LA convinced me if him and I were going to collaborate on a new record, I should migrate over to Pro Tools 10. Since he is on PC and I'm on a Mac, I thought why not? I bit the bullet and for the first time in my life attempted to learn a completely new DAW. Coming from DP was no easy task. As any Pro Tools user will tell you, Pro Tools has IT'S own little quirks (Real-time bounce to disk says hi) that make it unique and challenging to adapt to. Within a few weeks, I had my bearings re-aligned and I was making music again. However, being on a Mac I had a bunch of AU only plugs that I was missing in the Pro Tools environment...not to mention the ones I did have were eating up my CPU my buddy also recommended I pick up VE Pro 5. That opened up doors, for sure...but didn't completely solve my problems. Some plugs act funny in VE Pro...Pro Tools sometimes crashes too...which made me long for the times I just wanted thinks to "work" the way they did with DP.

So I'm here, 3 months after my Pro Tools affair and I'm booting up DP6 and hearing about DP8. Where this story I think would benefit you guys here on KVR is this: Yeah, there's no demo. However, you've gotta have a little faith sometimes when completely changing the way you do things. You've also got to have a great reason to as well. Is your DAW not working for you? Ready for a change to something TOTALLY different but would change the way you make music? Ultimately that choice is up to you. Myself personally, I'll be upgrading to DP8 the first chance I get.

As for Pro Tools...I'll probably keep it around awhile. AAX looks pretty cool and seems like it's catching on. My buddy in LA seems like he's too busy to collaborate anyway so I'm just going to keep on going about my business...making music.

Peace.
