yeah, the softube stuff sounds good to me. i have the FET. i am dying for them to release the Village people dynamite. my life will be A LOT easier when i get that going in RE instead of having to move to logic all the time (and it's not only me. i know a bunch of people who feel the same way about that. a lot of people use that thing)...

yeah, I could easily believe this. just checkin out now at the moment. sounds the same to me but i'm not an expert by any means [edit, i didn't write this properly a second ago]...ttoz wrote:i've done many null tests with softube FET RE vs AU version on the same sound with identical settings. they sound, um, identical. please don't believe anyone spouting rubbish otherwise.@midnight wrote:bloody hell. really? really? really? really?shalako wrote:also don't expect the RE version to sounds as good as the VST version.
really?
really?
really?
f**king relaly?
Which means without the ssl compressor on reason's desk, it's "ssl" "mix engine" also nulls with logic. And ableton. And i mean NULL as in crank the monitors, and faders to max, and zero sound, Complete silence.
I spent a few hours doing this a few weeks ago.

also, i just wanted to say, i was soooo happy with the way the softube stuff turned out in RE format. i'm looking forward to their future RE products. a big part of why I use Reason at the moment is because I've been bringin back my old tunes from back in the day with the knowledge that i can have some decent plugins actually running inside reason itself. reduces a lot of going back and forth or having to real with rewire all the time. please keep 'em coming Softube (if you actually read this stuff)

I'm not rich, but have no problem paying twice for a plugin to have it as an RE if its a plugin i use religiously.
There aint too many like that, and the ONLY one that qualifies would have been the FET. Since the UBK-1, however, FET gets less and less use.
I for one, need to do some null tests myself. I used to believe in them, but now, I'm not too sure.
At very large production studio for film located in Santa Monica, I did a very informal listening test between Logic and PT - two daws I never used for my own personal compositions.
I picked the correct daw 10/12 times.
File was the same, absolutely no fx. Same cue for the film we were working on.
So, I'm not so sure about nulls, from my own subjective view.
I really like reason for sound design that I just can't do otherwise. Yet, it definitely has a sound unto itself that I have had to use VST to make it sit right for me. Personally I'm much more of a "give me big, and thick and I'll mix to sit" which is a challenge for all ITB productions without plugs like UBK-1, FET, etc. If RE can make it so I can do it all in reason, I'm more than happy to pay for the convenience if I can afford it.
And I suspect that's what the Props were thinking too: people will pay for the convenience.
Because that has been Reason's selling point from day one: closed system, reliable and convenient.

what are u using now to compensate scream 4 ?shalako wrote:@mrdr I'm not saying it's not possible that the Re vearions would sound amazing, I'm just saying that based on past experience, I have found that when another dev team get involved with Softube the results haven't been as good as the stand alone Softube plugs. Personally (and I mean this as a matter of opinion...) I gave up on reason a while ago, the over sound quality compared with other software just seemed lacking... Note that I was a hardcore Reason fan for many years.
In saying that I still absolutely love Scream 4 distortion!!!!!! not that use it much these days since ReWire is not x64

I dont use RE's, but my understanding is they are a propellerhead only format, similar to VST right?
So, i can get the VST version that will work in any current host, or i can get a version that locks me to one/a specific software.
The pricing seems to make sense to me. Go down this hallway with lots of doors, or, for a smaller admission fee, go down that other hallway with just one door.

Now I noticed that FET is available as a Reason Rack Extension, but check out the discrepancy in price...
FET (VST) - $219/€174
FET (RE) - $125/€99
Whilst finding this to be grossly unfair to VST users, I wonder what Softube have to say about this matter.
