Sorry I should be more specific.
A .sf2 file has been created but when I load it in sfz, there's no sound comming from it. The file's size is 168.157.340 MB which is way below the expected 256MB (or so).

I just downloaded it, and it uncompressed tp around 250 megs. all I can suggest is try it again. oh, and on my machine, it took quite a few minutes to get unpacked.
but this thing sounds very good. I'm impressed.

I agree... the Splendid compares well in qualtity even against my 24bit Planet Piano .gig ... and bluedad must have heard more pianos than I have hot dinners.
KVR - the many headed beast.

Timfonie, two things: maybe your download didn't complete the first time (it was my case first time). The .exe file is supposed to be 75 mb. Second, the unpacking is quite long like Bluedad said: it took almost 10 minutes for me... So maybe you didn't wait long enough.

Thank you Patrice and Bluedad. I know it takes a while to unpack. It's quite a long time I unpacked a large .sfarc file so I can't remember the normal procedure sfArc takes. I can see a progress bar that slowly have three squares filled, then suddenly having all them filled. After a minute or two this display repeats itself another five or six times. Finally there's the error report.gugusse wrote:Timfonie, two things: maybe your download didn't complete the first time (it was my case first time). The .exe file is supposed to be 75 mb. However ... as you said the sfArc file must be around 75MB. Guess what? Mine is only 58MB and when I downloaded it again it turned out to be only 48MB!
So somehow the download process is interrupted each time, either by my PC or somewhere on the internet.
There's enough free disk space and RAM om my machine.
I never used any download managers and I prefer not to use them, but maybe I'll have to...

I must have been lucky, downloaded it earlier today and worked ok.
btw, looks like the University of Iowa Piano samples have about half sec of silence before each note, so will need a bit of editing first......

If you're using Internet Explorer it does have a habit of truncating biggish downloads, especially if you are doing other things on the net at the same time. I'd suggest using Firefox, Moz or Opera - they have more reliable download managers built in.

this splendid grand is very nice. I've just been playing it with my clavinova keyboard and bang, almost lost an hour! didn't notice any distortion, but I don't think I played up quite that far.
I have the trachtman sf around here somewhere, but I don't think it inspired me in quite the way this splendid one does.
anyone know what type of piano used for the splendid sf?

was someone having trouble with no sound coming from the splendid grand? the same happened to me, turns out all the samples have short loops set (1 or a few samples), disabling all the sample loops makes things ok. this is using kontakt.

Yet another reason to abandon Internet Explorer. Mozilla dowloaded this great 256MB Splendid piano without a glitch (thanks for the tip).
It's a very good sounding piano and I'm happy we can use it for free. The only annoying thing indeed is the clicks sampled along on several high-pitched keys on certain velocity levels. (& There's is some hiss at those frequencies too.) Maybe that's why they don't sell it

The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.
