um.. no.

well for 32 polyphony, i might :hihi:

for my 40th b day present to myself.

for 8 polyphony? they can pay me :)
I bought it from Novamusik (an online retailer) for $35 about 4 months ago.

It goes on sale, new and used, in that price range all the time.

I love V station, but a useful update would be nice, more- poly, presets, effects enhanced section...

Or. V station 2 synth , or a completely new vst synth from Novation wud be cool

Cheers

I find it odd that you don't find it very limited :? Ok, so i thought it was a mimic of Novation Nova for some reason and it felt like a cut down version of it. Supernova/Nova was always bashed upon back in the days for sounding thin .. that it needed effects to sound good. Good ol' hardware days huh!
While i tremble for asking this as i know what a circus it can bring, those of you who use V-Station, how do you compare it to other popular synths with similar functions? Im only asking registred V-Station users so please no synth vs synth from anyone else. Please.

It is limited. But i think it has an own "personality".
Does it sound good because of it's effects? Maybe. But if that's the sound i want, i dont care.

I mostly use Zebra, Diva, Omnisphere (and lots of samples), also some Massive and FM8. But in some situations, I use other stuff. Depends on the situation.

I think it's useful to see how a special synths fits in a special situation.
A synth that sounds thin may leave more space in the mix for the fat ones, that's why quality is depending on the context.
I don't think that V-Station is a must have, but I'm glad i have it.

It definitely has its own character, the "Novation sound" i guess. As already posted, you can get some nice spacey pad sounds and leads from it and the filter sounds very good and has a nice response (not those ear ripping frequencies on high resonance like many other plugins filters...). Compared to modern plugins, you could find that it sounds a bit thin obviously, due to the lack of hardcore supersaw trance voice stacking. (It has a unison mode, but due to the 8-voice polyphony, that will limit you quite a bit actually, and it doesn't sound very fat either) You can compensate that with the nice sounding onboard chorus though. :)

I think in general, you can say that it is not suitable for creating every sound, for example i don't like the basses of the thing (or maybe i'm just too bad in sound design to get some decent ones out of it). But then, same thing is valid for any other plugin as well. I think for the price you get it used, you can't go wrong.

Ok guys, thanks for the answers :)

I wouldnt say this vst has any character at all. it is seriously weak, I had it for almost two years (as a freebie with Nocturn Keyboard) and haven't used it even once in any project. interface is like Reason's uglier brother. and it does sound thin, or lifeless I would say.
not to mention that the supplied presets are probably the worst I have ever encountered in a commercial vst. and the price tag is funny too

But if anyone has V-Station I highly recommend Xenos' EDM Underground 2.0 preset bank - it will throw a bit of life into it :)

It's probably just me, but I could not get anything interesting out of this at all. Maybe it is my lack of synthesis knowledge..

It has about three sounds.

This is the most difficult synth I have ever programmed. Kudos to the preset designers who can make this synth sing - there are a few. But for me, it left me wanting...

It reminded me of one of those old roland sh jobbies from a few decades ago - lots a shiny knobs, but none of them do very much.

I'm a crap sound designer, so take what I say with a pinch of salt.
I would never up grade this. I don't regret the money I spent on the first version - it is great with the presets I had and bought, but so many other synths give rewards much quicker. I mean, turn the right knob on wusikstation and all hell breaks loose. Mind you, you have to find the knob.

Anyway, I wish them all the best. Great little synth. Just don't know how to program it..

Weird, i find the interface pretty straight forward. Well, each to its like i guess. :P

What a nice surprise this was. I had no idea V Station 2 was in the works tbh, and VST3 as well, well happy with that.
Don't trust those with words of weakness, they are the most aggressive

I always found it pretty straight forward to program. I too am a lousy synth programmer, and will often turn to patches to quickly get what I'm looking for. I REALLY don't like the patch/library functionality in this synth. Overall, it's sound is good. It doesn't have that warmer (analog-ish?) sound that can be found in synths like SQ8L, but it has a nice clean sound that is helped out with the use of the on-board effects. If I remember correctly, that is.... I haven't used it in a wile--I've been focusing on trying my hand at making music on the iPad. It is really lite on CPU, which I really like. I bought it on special for about $30, and I feel satisfied with what I paid for. :-)

Now, on the other hand, I paid $10 or $11 for the Novation Bass Station VST, and I tried hard to like it. I REALLY tried. I read about the original at Vintage Synth Museum. I watched Youtube videos of it, and tried patches and patches. I tried to make my own. Overall, I just felt really underwhelmed by it.

Thank you. I did, but still waiting for an answer.
Please let us know what Novation says regarding this. I would be very intersted in knowing. :-)
