Upcoming Studio One 2.5 release

It is just incomplete reporting. It only tells you about one core, giving the impression that is the total system load. If this wasn't poorly implemented, it wouldn't keep coming up as an issue. It is simply confusing. Also in 64 bit they removed the ability to see RAM usage. That whole feature needs some real work.

They do that (imo) because when any single core overloads you'll get dropouts. It's very logical to do that imo, mmv, feel free to disagree, no biggie, etc, not disagreeing or arguing about it, just explaining why I think they did it that way.braj wrote:It is just incomplete reporting. They don't show RAM use in 64-bit because the assumption is that people using 64-bit have lots of RAM and are less likely to overload and blue screen, unlike 32-bit, but a RAM meter for 64-bit would be nice anyway because we do often push our resources to their limits, I do agree.
I'll leave all this alone now. Thanks Braj.

Well IMO a better system would be to display all the cores in the expanded view, it would be much more clear what exactly you are looking at. Anyhow, this is a young feature, it still has bugs like hiding behind plugin windows. Hopefully it will improve. But getting back to the original point, yes Studio One needs performance optimizations regardless of the reporting system. That is my and many other user's direct experience. I'm just wondering if any of the 100 or so improvements is related to performance.LawrenceF wrote:They do that (imo) because when any single core overloads you'll get dropouts. It's good to know Studio One Pro version 2.5 is not too far away, and offers some great new features. Although there is no official listing of all the new features it offer at this time.
I wonder when they plan to release it ?
I purchased Studio One Pro v2 a while ago, and it is still in the box, I have not installed it on my System (yet). So, I might install version 2.5 depending on the list of new features it offers. I'm hoping that Version 3 will be released during Q1-2013 or Q2-2013 (the latest).
Currently I'm very happy using Cubase 6.5 on Windows PC. (Great DAW) ! and looking forward to Cubase 7 when it is released during Q1 or Q2 of 2013
Cheers,

Cheers Muziksculp.
You might as well install it and play with it to get your money's worth. It will load Steinberg xml files directly so you'll have plenty of stuff to play with from any of your Cubase sessions. The install is pretty fast and non-invasive so there's no chance of screwing up your Cubendo install. At the very least you'll likely find the Project section useful.
Be warned though (from a long time Cubase user), it's mixing console may spoil you.

Thanks for the suggestion, Yes, I am planning to install version 2.5 as soon as it is officially released, and test Studio One Pro 2.5, to see how I like it.
I'm sure I will like it a lot. I will most likely be using it more on serious work when it is at version 3.
Sounds like the mixing console is one if it's strong points, will check it out and maybe spoil myself a bit
I also wish they improve Studio One Pro's GUI (maybe in version 3), it surely can use a bit more color and contrast.
Cheers,

For sure. Cubase 6's clips and colors are downright "purdy". I actually noticed all that color goodness long before Cubase 6 was shown, it was worked out in Steinberg Sequel, but yeah, the colors and contrast on clip selection and all that is quite nice indeed.
As relates to color, yeah. ..S1 next to Cubase 6 kinda looks like a dock worker standing next to Liberace.

Which begs the question.."is that a candelabra in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"LawrenceF wrote: S1 next to Cubase 6 kinda looks like a dock worker standing next to Liberace.
Dan

It would be great if they finally implement customisable instrument definitions so we can audition and send patch selection data easily to external sound modules. At the moment you have to do a Bletchley Park and figure out the LSB MSB etc. numbers. Very crude. If they implemented this I could finally make the transition from Sonar.
