It even supports drag & drop from the host (at least in Reaper) !
ANd you can add favourites samples folders

I wish it could be more user friendly with the slicer (for instance : allowing 2 modes : "slice to transient" and "slice the loop in X slices of equal lenght").

Post

As it allows sampling, is it possible to edit the samples with an external editor ?

Check the leftmost control, "slice/#". It does exactly what you ask for. Slice into # parts. :-) Like the beat detector, it allows for interactive modification of slice parameters too.
Cheers

Not as such, except of course saving, edit and reloading. But no "launch external->watch the file for modification", no. But its a feature that should be in.

I noticed that the filter cutoff, resonance and drive wouldn't update in realtime, only if i used a modulator like env or lfo. Maybe this is already noted ... if so, never mind this :)

That's a bit of a letdown if it won't update in realtime. But hopefully that fix is coming?

Post

im willing to bet my TX16Wx non-commercial license that it will be updated in realtime ;)

Hi, I am impressed. It looks great and I like the idea of just sampling in an artistic way.
I used to owe an old EPS16+. That was the weapon on which I learned to sample with.
So you can imagine how pleased I was when I read about the direct sampling thing.
I am using REAPER and so setting it up to sample was a very easy.
But I keep on struggling with a thing that (imho) makes the direct sampling feature is useless.
I want to play the sample immediately. Maybe I make a mistake. I read the manual but couldn't find a thing. :?:

It also makes a small redrawing bug in the sample editor when playing back the sample while editing start and end points.
The useless lines disappear the next time the play cursor comes by.
I also confirm the output-mess in REAPER. The routing is correct but the names are weird.
When dragging in samples from the REAPER file browser the plugin crashed REAPER.

I also like the pricing (pro and discounted).
As soon as it stops crashing I will buy it.

Woops. That's an undesired sideeffect yes. It will update once you release your mouse button. But of course it should update every modification step.
Note however, that to make attributes change inside your song, you need to set up a modulation mapping. I.e for example a MIDI CC -> filter frequency.

Thank you : i think i need to read the manual :)
Is it available on your site, or is the only way to acccess it is to install the software ?

TX may be the best VST release of 2012
Could be ... is the a list somewhere, so that I can avoid repetition?

Meanwhile:
Q: can I change the knobs to vertical knob control (circular mode is used at present)?

Q: There are 48 VST parameters (over and the 32 Vol and 32 Pan parameters; how do I map those parameters to a knob etc? Also, what do the 32 Vol and 32 Pan parameters control?
Switch knob mode by pressing ALT key. There should perhaps be a switch to set which is default, linear or circular.

The 32 vol+pan will control the first 32 program slots in a performance. This is because these are the only "static" parameters that exist in the TX16Wx. All others are per-group, so you need to use modulation mapping.
To use an automation control, make a mapping entry mapping the auto param->your desired parameter and set the modulation scale. Note that since modulation is additive, you might need for example to set a filter frequency very low by default and then modulate it to raise it to "play level".

Not yet on the website, sorry. The manual is also in beta stage, so there are some omissions, though yes, I recommend reading it.
And I highly recommend installing TX16Wx of course. ;-)

Yes, this is definitely something one would wish as a global rather than a temporary option. Alt key could be used for some other things, who knows. :)

BTW how do you find my comment about the checkboxes in the Setup window looking too similar between off/on?

Just drag the new sample(s) into the key mapper to map it, similar to dragging pre-existing samples from file browser. (To switch view while dragging, just move the mouse over the "keyboard mapper" tab label).
Samples are not mapped as they are recorded. I am aware that this is one thing you could do with many hardware units, and I want to add something similar, I have just not quite come up with a good UI to represent the "parameters" of map-while-sampling.

Are you on XP? Can you provide details about OS, 64/32, etc? Redraw issues tend to be because of quirks in various versions of GDI+ or Direct2D. I had hoped to have covered all, but...
Does the crash in Reaper reproduce all the time? All samples? If not, can you isolate the offending material and send me?
Cheers

I can understand your point. It feels obvious to me, but then it always does when you write it. Not exactly a hard graphics task, so I'll squeeze it in for next update.
