I think it's just a matter of time before Apple releases an iPad version of Logic. It's pretty well known that GarageBand and Logic have a common codebase. Logic on Mac has limited mindshare because of the relative small proportion of Mac users to PC users, but the equation is different with iPad which is selling obscenely.

A product priced at $49-$79 with all of their plugins included could be a killer, and I guess this is why I've been holding off on products like Auria, IKMM etc... I'm expecting this Logic shoe to iDrop any minute now.

Mmm… not anytime soon. GarageBand is perfect for the iPad and Logic can import those projects… very hard to see it happening.

GarageBand iOS is weaker than it needs to be in mixing and most importantly here's no vocal tuner, I'd have no way to mix Rihanna's vocals correctly If I ran into her armed with my iPad.

If they did, I would have thought there would have been a major race on to penetrate this market, but as yet, no iCubase, no iLive, no iLogic, no iReason…all leading me to think that a full blown DAW with the capacity to host plugins might still be some way away….Of course I'm no computer expert so I could be wrong but it would be strange for all the major players to miss this lucrative market if doable.

I suspect it's doable but the incumbents may be concerned about the immediate price erosion. Digital is digital, if Auria can do it so can Steinberg.

Auria have a different soultion though. They have "baked in" plugs. These arnt true plugins as they cant be used in other programs, they are part of the main program. Similar to Reason REs. This requires plugins to be specially written for Auria. IOS dosnt allow plugins.

Truth, but in a sense my point is that Logic already comes bundled with a rich set of plugins. If they were all part of the iOS version it could be quite capable, and there's always the possibility of ported AU plugins being available via in-app purchase

Once the iPhone 5 processor reaches the iPad, it'll be strong enough to run Logic, or at least a stronger version of GB than what currently exists. The issue is how audio moves in and out of each app, or doesn't, as it were.
