Hi,

Just a quick post to mention that Alchemy Mobile has been updated to v1.1.37. This update:
  • Adds support for the iPhone 5's bigger screen
  • Puts the 'Sticky keys' button back on the main screen for easy access
  • Includes minor changes for iOS 6 compatibility
Camel Audio is also running a 3 day 50% off sale for the following Mobile sound libraries:
  • Dream Voices Mobile
  • Guitar Mutations Mobile
Both Mobile Sound Libraries are available as in-app purchases for USD 1.99 / GBP 1.49 / EUR 1.59 each until the end of Monday 16th October.

Questions or comments are welcome so please post here and we'll try to answer as quickly as possible.

Peace,
Andy.

Thanks for the continued support. As I mentioned in the Camel Audio area of this forum, I have been spending some focused time recently with Camel Mobile and having a really great time with it.

I have a question regarding Dream Voices. I am interested in knowing if the 1st sound in the "Keys & Synths" demo is in the Mobile version. I would buy it just for that one sound.

Probably going to pick up Guitar Mutations.

It's difficult to say which preset from the desktop version was used for those first few notes, but the closest match I can find is not included with the Mobile version unfortunately.

Peace,
Andy.

Thanks for the update. Got the guitar mutations, but the Dream Voices is not showing the sale price here in the US. Still at $4.99.

Hi,

I think these price changes sometimes take 1 or 2 hours to reach everyone, it's not instant. Both are showing up on my iPod & iPad, so all I can recommend at this point is to refresh the list (pull down) or try again later today.

Peace,
Andy.

Bummer. Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm in USA and they are both showing up as $1.99 so they should eventually show that way for you.

For those interested, here is the sound listing for the Guitar Mutations set:

Hi all,

I'm new to the Ipad and all that is involved. I have a question about things like Alchemy (which I love on my mac by the way). On the Ipad, when you get these stand alone synths, what are they used for? I mean they aren't used as plug ins for some other host program like Logic (not the Ipad has Logic, but you know what I mean).

I guess that Alchemy for instance has no internal sequencer as far as I can see, at least the free version. So do you just audio out these things into an audio interface and record tracks into a DAW, or what exactly do you do?

I understand that Audiobus will change the game when it's finally released and the whole game will change for the better, but in the mean time, how do you use Alchemy?

I really want to buy the full version, but to what end?

Excuse my ignorance as I'm new at the whole thing.

Thank you,
Shawn

I was actually about to buy Dream Voices myself, till I read the disclaimer that the demos might have sounds that are not included in the mobile version....

While I'm sure some folks may use it in a live set-up, I think a lot of people (myself included) use its recording features (not a sequencer with editing capabilities, but you can record and layer parts) to record parts and then audio copy and paste the recordings into another iOS app, such as NanoStudio, BeatMaker 2, GarageBand or StudioHD, where you can then assemble, loop and chop up the recordings along side other material recorded in those or other apps.

The intention with the demos has never been to trick users in to thinking that they'll get something that's not included. The problem has been finding the time to create new demos using only the Mobile sound library presets. That said, it would probably benefit everyone if we did this so I'll put it forward to the other Camels.

And FWIW: we have received very few complaints about this, mostly regarding the keys presets in the BigTone demos. We fixed this by adding the presets in an update.

Peace,
Andy.

I just tried that and understand. Very powerful.

Thank you for the information.

To get an idea of what Alchemy Mobile is all about it's best to check out our main webpage:

http://www.camelaudio.com/AlchemyMobile.php

There is a video at the top which will show you what it's capable of. The video was created using the original version, and we've added quite a few new features since then but it should give you a good idea.

As peanut_gallery pointed out, for iOS only musicians the current workflow involves using multiple apps to create different sounds. Some of the sequencing apps have built in synths, but the sound pallet can be a bit limited, so using something like Alchemy Mobile, Sunrizer or Animoog + copy/pasting the recording works quite well, if a little cumbersome.

Hopefully AudioBus will improve this, if enough apps offer support.

Peace,
Andy.

I'll check it out this weekend.

Hey Andy,

I know you posted it once for me somewhere, but I have searched and searched, and have not been able to find the amount of added size each bank (sound pack) uses. I have a 16Gb iPad 2, and I have to be ultra careful with every byte I add to my system. Synths in general are easy for me, because they are relatively small, but sound packs that are based off of samples generally take a lot of space, so I am forced to be careful.

Could you tell me how much extra space Dream Voices & Guitar Mutations take up?

Thanks!

The original post is here:

These are 2 of the largest sound libraries because of the number of samples:

Dream Voices: 220 MB
Guitar Mutations: 222 MB
