Since he gone got himself banned on purpose yet He is my very close friend and is still at it with the strip/vero board layouts each week this one I had to post. It is a really rather simple but decent drone synthesizer, It sounds like this:

Should you fancy building yourself one you can grab the layout/info here:

Bear in mind it was all done from idea to finished sound making state in a week (Probably less knowing Paul tbh). Also as it is so simple I am sure that there are many possible things one could add/change/mess around with to yield more complex results. PLEASE if you build one and BEND IT, DO POST LINKS/PICS/AUDIO EXAMPLES on Paul's blog page, Revenge will then be mine :hihi:

Hope that it is useful and works for anyone whom builds one up

All the best to all as always :)

I didn't know he got himself banned, not surprised though going by some of his posts... :)

From his write up of this circuit: "I've been getting annoyed at seeing youtube videos of people pissing about with these "synths" which are basically boxes of 555 timers with a million knobs that make stupid noises that you couldn't ever actually use in music"

Right there with him on this point.

I really like the sound of this circuit, really warm and, well, usable. :)

Yeah mate he got what he wanted and he is just plain brutal/harsh sometimes! It is not an ego related problem with Paul but rather easily frustrated, impatient and says/rants exactly what he is thinking straight up. He does have a genuine passion for electronics and audio/music and will happily talk about either all day. If anyone thinks he has said/spoken harshly then it pale's in comparison to the verbal demolitions I get regular  However I do ask stupid questions and wind him up so ;)

Pleased to hear you are into it Gary and hope if you build one up yourself you find it useable, I like it alot myself hence posting the info here as it is ripe for putting through any pedal/multi-fx/whatever really and also firing into into an amplifier for mic'ing up aswell as as a rounded naked sound. Also I'm no wizard with synths so a drone box is just about ideal for me, I'll probably use it where I would an organ for example. Just need to get over to his place and get meddling around with it

Nice one and cheers dude :)
