I thought this was a joke at first, I mean they can not be serious can they?

Im sure they are for real though

I have a few dongles myself so am no dongle dodger nor hate them either. I actually do like having the option of having a portable license aka dongle or whatever other method as in my very humble honest opinion it allows users to select whichever option works best for thier own needs.

Yes obviously in an ideal world there would be no copy protection needed but at all but it is not an ideal world.

However a case for a dongle...They have got to be shitting me, Like some overpriced OTT case accessory for a smartphone :help:

I do really feel for any victims whom may have fallen prey to pimping out the looks of thier dongle via such an accessory :hihi:

Enjoy in case (sic) you have not come across these beauties before

Well laugh all you want but i might just buy one.

I have knocked mine out of the back of my laptop before causing my session to crash.
I would use double sided tape and stick this to the underside of the desk completely out of harms way.
Clean and effective.

"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

Trust me...people will buy it... people will buy anything....

I would not laugh at you Mushy mate, It is totally your call what you spend your own money on and non of my business. I would not laugh at anyone for buying something they would find genuinely useful. Its just that it really did look like a humerous joke thing and I have been conviced before quite a few times that friends have sent me links to that are/were taking the mick out of me truthfully. So I got demolished and had to toughen up to it. If you find it handy/money saving piece of mind then glad to inadvertantly help dude :)

As always all the best

I think I could put my own together for less than a fiver and about a hour of DIY elbow grease, Most expensive part would be the USB extension cable...Still I understand not every person is into DIY (I mean having the tools to cut the plastic into pieces or other material of choice and drill for the screw holes...etc.) and in comparisson to many things it is not what many people would consider expensive either I susspose. So yeah I totally hear you digitalbeatsyndrome

If I do decide to build my own I'll put it and the info in the DIY forum :)

All the best your way

I actually would buy one of these (screw the haters :P). My current DIY solution is plugging my iLok into a USB extension cord, some bubble wrap, then putting everything inside of this tiny camera bag. When I'm working away from home, it stays in my laptop bag nearby while the cable sticks out and plugs into my laptop.

Looks like a good idea actually - I keep all my dongles (3 of them) on a separate usb hub which avoids them taking up too much space - unfortunately this solution would not work with that unless I also bought 3 extra cables

I modded a Peli 1010 for my ILoks. I use it with a flexible USB Hub or Extension.
I miss MindPrint. My TRIO needs a big brother.

Well, if you don't mind using an opaque case, you could buy a plastic case at any electronic components shop, then you just have to cut a hole for the usb cable (a cutter is enough)... if you have some foam, you could also fill the case... :|

After I almost lost my eLicenser once and shortly after nearly cracked my iLok's connector, I started using a Nintendo DS case with a very small USB hub inside. It houses my iLok, eLicenser and a 8GB flashdrive (which also holds my Waves licenses). The USB-cord sticks out of the zipper so I never have to open it. Very handy, compact-but-not-too-small-too-lose and I never have to plug/unplug my precious keys. And they are safe from damage/water/dust/whatever.

So, I don't think the idea is crazy...

I'm still waiting for my hello kitty dongle covers.

Hmm, The thing that worries me is the heat generated in the casing?!

I made something exactly like this for the USB hub I keep my dongles connected to.

It's a small tupperware container with a hole cut in the side for the USB port. I filled it with packing foam so the hub doesn't move around. It keeps my dongles safe and it's much harder to lose than the individual dongles. Best of all, it's DIY so it only cost the amount of the container and packing material (maybe $1.50).

I've destroyed at least 5 iloks and more than a few eLicense keys, hell I even broke one of those aluminum Ignition keys. So it was worth the $1.50 and the time it required to make but I'm not gonna pay someone for a dongle cozy.

The concept might appear silly at first, but if you have a huge number of products on a single dongle, it might be a decent option for peace-of-mind's sake.
