Hi everyone,

I am interested in the experimental, strange, and improbable when it comes to sound sources (sample libraries, synthesis, etc). I currently use Ableton Suite 8, Maschine, Komplete 8 Ultimate, and various products from Twisted Tools, Sonnicouture, and Heavyocity to fill this role. Does anyone have recommendations for libraries or other VSTs with unusual sound sources or other fringe elements? Is Omnisphere a fun tool of this type?

Have you plunged into the Reaktor Library?
If not, look up Rick Scott/rachmiel schott and Dieter Zobel's stuff.

Trying to think; there's lots more somewhere in my head, but I'm bagged and need to sleep.

More may come to me tomorrow.
Till then... zzzzz

i recommend http://www.freesound.org/ , there's sounds of almost everything and use ambients or some sound effects like a coin, a car crash, a bird, etc, may improve a lot a song when is coherent with the lyrics and the style.

Don't worry mister Carcrash Victim, you'll probably die of your wounds in a few minutes but there is some good news... we sampled it! And we're going to make a song out of it! *super happy fun time*

Seriously though, freesound is really useful.

Hollow Sun's 'Music Laboratory Machines'. C'mon, these are a great go-to for all kinds of wierdness. And dirt-cheap as well.

+1 just what I was thinking

And you can wring some pretty weird timbres out of Chromaphone. Or Alchemy, if you feed it something interesting.
Textur for ACE
After Hours for Lounge Lizard EP-4
Prism Sticks for Chromaphone 2
