I agree, too restricted demo versions are annoying. It was the same with Tone2 Saurus, 10 minutes and no ability to save patches. They even removed the ability to initialize the patch in the demo

If you like to design your own sounds rather than using presets, those restrictions need to be lifted so you can get an idea of how the synth works as a true synthesizer (not just as a glorified ROMpler).

As a pure SH-101 emulation the free TAL Bassline easily competes in terms of sound quality IMO, even with high resonance.
As i was mostly interested in the SH-101 part and got enough other choices for complex synths i'll pass for the moment but i'll try to check the demo later again.

BTW i still got no discount in my account even if i registered both Drumazon and Phoscyon.

Hi Ingro, I'm not sure what to listen to in this comparison as they are completely different:

-LuSH-101 is one octave higher (compared to TAL, which is one octave lower).

-Master Volume needs to be around 75% to match TAL's output.

-LuSH-101 filter is set to 'normal' by default, switch to SH-101 is completely different.

Okay, finally I tested it.
It has not an envelopes and lfo as modulation sources and this is sadly.
Not keytrack for Supersaw detune to natural sounding. (As you know, supersaw sounds much more better when its detune is not linear by keyboard, - or don't you?)
Not LFO phase spread for each unison voice (like V-Station or Virus has).
Modulation matrix is not flexible. (In 2012 a midi parameters only? Are you kidding me?)
I will not buy it. Anyway, thanks D16 for the demo version.

1.) I recognized that the octaves are lower in TAl which is why i used 8' in TAL and 16' in LuSH-101
2.) Both tracks are normalized
3.) Of course i use the SH-101 filter mode in LuSH-101.

The point is that in both synths the Resonance "fades out" at around the same Cutoff amount (92-93%). While i maybe did not ivest enough time to get both sounds 100% identical the Resonance behavior of both synths is not much different IMO.

I disagree.

As a complete SH-101 emulation LuSH-101 makes TAL-Bassline look like a ... toy. Don't get wrong, the TAL synths are all brilliant and I'm not dissing TAL Bassline by any means but if we consider the envelopes, LFO's and everything else that makes the SH-101 what it is, then LuSH-101 is the clear winner.

One of the best tests of the envelopes for any SH-101 emulation is creating a classic psy trance kick drum using 100% resonance and 0 filter. Short decay. No sustain. Envelope to filter cutoff.

You cant't get close with TAL-Bassline, the envelopes are kind of ... flabby.

LuSH-101 behaves exactly like the real thing.

Deep booming kicks that would sound great on any speaker system.

The annoying click of the 101 envelope is also there. Great

Ingo, my TAL vs LuSH sounds completely different than yours. FWIW they are much 'closer'. Both have been normalised:

Just been playing with the demo.

My first thought is that with a short time limit per session and not being able to save patches (or even quality settings), I can't really demo it properly. 15 minutes isn't enough time to get an idea of how easily I can get it to sound how I want and I have to start from scratch once it's timed out.

Second thought is I don't need 8 layers and a mixer and fx processors, my hosts already let me do all that, though I do like the delay, perhaps a future D16 silver line effect.

It sounds good but I'm not blown away and even with 20% discount, I don't think I'm going to buy it. It doesn't really give me anything new and it's to expensive to buy just to complete my D16 collection.

To the D16 guys, I personally think you'd have been better off with a straight up SH-101 emulation in the vain of the classic boxes and at a similar price point. That, for me at least, would have been a no-brainer.

Congrats on the release though, I know how long you've been working on this.
Perhaps once the dust has settled you'd consider doing a simpler, lighter and more focused SH-101 emu.
