Hi Folks !
Yet another new pluggo from jK :
Autofreq - "a kind of auto filter. Its cutoff frequency depends on spectral contents of incoming sound.". OS9 or OSX.

If you've got all of his stuff (great pluggos!), throw him a donation.

Hi people, I'm Matt of postsomnia.com. I will very shortly once again have my very own working Mac, so I'll be able to commence porting my pluggoes to X.

I've been spending some time with the Max and Pluggo demos on a friend's machine, and I have yet to get any of my own synths (including ones that aren't public) to work in AU hosts. I have no idea why, but I do know that other pluggo makers are having the same issues.

Doktor Destrukto requires a set of commercial third-party externals to function properly, so it will need a proper update.

Kinky Sines... well, if you tweak it, it can sound like a cheap Casio, but I have no plans to put any more time into it.

If you can't wait, check out an effect pluggo I like to call the formantis (http://www.postsomnia.com/files/formantis_b8.sit). I have tested it in more than a few VST and AU hosts and it seems to work.

Also, someone mentioned the plugins at Laut&Leise, and the guy who makes those is a friend of mine. He's not planning on switching over to OS X until 2006 or 2008 if he can help it, but I'm porting all of his pluggoes to OS X and he'll be porting my new ones to OS 9. :) Not released yet are a bunch of effects centered around a gain-based switching technology he developped and is rather fond of.... they're definately some unique sounds.

...Anyrate, looking forward to my new (well, new to me) secondhand ibook,
Matt

That's all good news Matt, and FORMANTIS is great :)
Thanks for your plugs !

Just a quick report back on "Formantis" Matt -

All Working nicely in Protools as RTAS pluggo and in Plogue bidule as VST pluggo.

Comes up as an audio unit in Rax but the "dots" can't be moved and have a white background, so no settings changes there.

Someone else at OSXaudio says "vst ran fine in live 3, au seems to function fine in numerology"

Also just opened as a pluggo in OS9 Protools but the "dots" were not there - didn't really expect this to work under OS9 but thought i'd try anyway.

Yeah, I saw the thread. I was going to post on osxa too, but was too tired last night.

I've since added to the thread with the -phasorphukor- (http://www.postsomnia.com/files/phasorphukor_b1.sit), an effect I came up with in a fit of drunken inspiration last weekend. I was thinking about reversing delays and the possibilities of screwing with a rolling audio buffer in MSP and this is the result. It stutters! It pitch-shifts! It mangles beats! It'll help you sound like Autechre! Well, maybe not, but I swear they must do something similar.

hi matt,

i hope you have a nice birthday ;) phasorphukor is really great although i had some problems getting it to work. i had to remove the "-" in before and after the name, and some other trys with the au scan and so on. it still doesn't appear as a vst fx in spark le but it works as an au in ogic 5.5.1(osx)

I've got Phasorphukor working nicely in the test OSX build of Plogue Bidule (v.6600, the one from here which does VSTs, Audio Units and Pluggos) - is that the one you're using Tetraplan?
(on 10.3.3 here though, may be a difference)

Generally it's a more stable version than the "official current beta" from the Bidule homepage, and fixed some specific Pluggo problems.

Matt - this is sounding great with beats going through it ! Sending loops from jKs Luppo and tweaking parameters. Fun fun fun, many thanks ! :D

That's the one.
Haven't tested Cubaseuser's method, yet, though.

It's very nice. The AU support is a nice bonus, especially now that DFX have stopped macvst support.
Been using their plugins religiously.

cubaseuser: thanks, even though you're a month early. :)

i know phasorphukor shows up in the latest version of bidule. I haven't loaded it yet, but I know it shows up... the only host i've really tested it in is Live 3.

One thing, this version of pp requires the host to provide tempo data. pp needs to have some basis for multiplying the "beat divide" and "beat multiply" against, and currently I'm using whatever "milliseconds per beat" value the host reports. If it reports zero, then pp doesn't have any room to do anything in. I know bidule can send plugins host sync data, but I haven't gotten into that aspect of it yet.

I have my new/old iBook now. It's not much, one of the earlier "icebook" models, but it will run OS X, however slowly. It even boots into OS 9 too!

Also, my friend Roman of Laut&Leise posted a teaser for his volsplit pluggoes here: http://osxaudio.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8252 (http://osxaudio.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8252)

After we figure out why his graphics won't load into OS X pluggoes, I'll be doing a lot of the gruntwerk for converting these to OS X (load up patch, tweak it a bit, build collective, quit max, compile pluggo, copy to vstplugins, fire up host, load up pluggoes, scream in agony as something doesn't work, quit host, fire up max, wash/rinse/repeat).

I've just uploaded an update for Poly III (now Poly IV !) which uses some new band-limited oscillators.
It sounds much better to me, but I've had some stability problems with it on my home machine, so I'm calling it a beta at present. It's at:
http://www.wildfrontear.co.uk/pluggo/Poly_IV_X.sitx
(you'll probably need to do a control-click ->'download link to disc' on the above link)
There are no docs with it, but you shouldn't need to download any extra files. Please let me know how you get on with it.
cheers

Hi there Roger , good to see you in this thread :)
Problems with Poly IV in both Plogue Bidule and Protools LE :
Really high CPU peaks (can see them in Protools), and the sound breaks up with either polyphony or playing single notes while others are hanging . Playing too many notes causes the sound to stop altogether.

Swapped back and forth between Poly III and Poly IV in both apps, using the same presets. Poly III working fine.

Specs : 2GB RAM Dual 1GHz PowerPC G4 - PT LE 6.2.3 - MBox - OSX 10.3.3

(Note - I was taking the 'other" one out of the VST-Pluggo folder when doing each test, just in case there were ID clashes.)
