I really like the look of this. I've got a iPad1 so this will be a good upgrade for me.

I really do like the size. I would take this to places I wouldn't take my iPad. Perfect for a train or buss ride. And it should be able to slip inside a jacket or coat pocket.

I don't like the sound of it. For me, bigger is better and my current iPad2 is just fine - just needs more memory or a way to use a hard drive or other storage medium.

iPad w/Retina Display is the 4th gen iPad. There's no more third gen.

As for the topic at hand, it's interesting, especially given the price. However my concern is two handed typing in the horizontal orientation, which I don't think it'll be good with.

We'll see though. My wife wants one for sure, to replace the iPad 1 she has. For audio, given that it'll be running any app that works with the iPad 1 and up, it should be fine.

So the iPad 3 just came out this year and it's already been replaced? That sucks. Good thing I held off but it must burn for those that didn't.

Not that much. Really. A5X CPU is enough and who needs 720p facetime?

And one can buy the camera connection kit for a few bucks extra.

Polaris, I use a Zagg bluetooth keyboard which doubles as an iPad cover.

6 or 7 months is a short life pan alright. 12 months is usually kinda fair. There is nothing new or groundbreaking in the 4th gen though so it won't bother me a whole lot. The extra processing power would be nice but I don't personally need it.

I just wonder if they will update again when they have their next event (usually about March?)

I can't believe my iPad 2 is still current technology and the iPad 3 is now obsolete. Why didn't they drop down the iPad 3 to a 16gb 399 model. Wow!
