Just saw a clip of Orbital live, I think Paul Hartnoll uses 5 or so iPads on stage as interfaces, a smaller iPad thus means less for him to carry![]()
I dunno anybody using Android tablets like that?

If 99 percent of the human flock would use synths for word processing, why would we care?Kriminal wrote: I doubt many ppl use tablets for music, prob 99% use them for surfing, movies etc.

How many iPads would it take to have the weight of one "average" hardware synth, or workstationNumanoid wrote: Just saw a clip of Orbital live, I think Paul Hartnoll uses 5 or so iPads on stage as interfaces, a smaller iPad thus means less for him to carry![]()

This is really no different at all to the iPod Mini (and subsequent Nanos). Apple introduces regular product, Apple introduces smaller, cheaper product 1-2 years later.Kriminal wrote:thats not the case. Its the case that they realised everyone is buying small tablets and they want to cash in on it, but as usual the apple product is already behind in spec and way over priced.polaris20 wrote: Right, the decline of Apple because they're filling a hole in their product line.![]()
Yet this time apparently it's "Apple catching up". Everyone said the iPod Mini was expensive compared to everything else as well. It was. They sold millions anyway.
And not necessarily directed at you, but I'm quite tired of the "iPad Mini is too expensive" argument already.
It's not overpriced. It's priced where it should be, give or take 10%. Just because Amazon and Google choose to sell their stuff at cost or a slight loss, with the hopes of making it up in services, doesn't make the Mini "overpriced".
It's a different business model. You either want to get into or stay with the Apple ecosystem because you like the hardware/apps, or you don't.
I want a 7" tablet to keep on the nightstand for reading or Netflix. I could easily get by with the Fire or Nexus, and nearly bought one. But I'm of the opinion that the $80 I'd save buying the Nexus would be quickly lost by having to re-purchase apps I've already gotten on the regular iPad.
On the flipside, when someone who's got an Android phone asks me about the iPad or iPad Mini, I generally tell them that unless they're actually unhappy with Android, it makes sense to go with the Nexus, because many if not most apps will work on both.
It's really not a case of one ecosystem being a lot better than the other, it's just what one prefers and what they've bought into.

As a Kindle Fire owner (2nd ten) and an iPad 2 owner, I can tell you the iPad mini is no way over priced. The Fire does not have bluetooth, any camera (much less two), an extremely lame web browser (and with 2nd gen Fire you cannot use any other browser other than the one it comes with,,,, as opposed to iPad where you have many choices), no utube support or flash for that matter..... Had to pay $5 for an app so I could read epubs, You have to pay an extra $15 just to get rid of some of the ads that are on the home screen and nags all over.... no charger, just a usb cable, no headphones, slow performance compared to my iPad 2 .... I could go on and on.....
The only real positive I have for my Fire is that it locks on a WIFI signal like nothing I've ever seen.....
As I said earlier in this thread, I regret not waiting for the iPad mini....

I don't care what you're talking about, I'm saying what happened with the iPod mini, and it'll happen again with the iPad mini.Kriminal wrote:Im not talking about the ipod.polaris20 wrote:This is really no different at all to the iPod Mini (and subsequent Nanos). Steve jobs said he didn't think a 7" tablet would be successful, that's why the iPad min is 7.9" and the screen fills out to the edges Of the device that's why there is no wasted space around the screen.Kriminal wrote:thats not the case. It's a matter of ergonomics and whether or not its a tablet, or just feels like a large phone.

It does when you're designing apps for HD rather than stretching low-res app GUI.Kriminal wrote:wow.... 0.9 of an inch....makes all the differencesiriusbliss wrote:Steve jobs said he didn't think a 7" tablet would be successful, that's why the iPad min is 7.9" and the screen fills out to the edges Of the device that's why there is no wasted space around the screen.Kriminal wrote:thats not the case. My app-developer friends love having the extra space.
