Deserves its own thread I think, not just a new clip launcher, but a new way to play sounds, scales and chords?

I tell you, I really like Cubase, but Albeton really appeals to me when I see how interactive you can be with your music. I'd love to try this approach one day. It might be much faster than my linear style.
The idea of working on little clips and sticking them together appeals, since presumably you focus more on those individual clips this way. Of course you can do so with Cubase et al, but there is a spontaneity with launching clips, not to mention being in the zone.

Absolutely. I am also a Cubase user (6.5) but Live plays like an instrument; I used to just do dance music on Live, If I was doing a guitar based track I instantly booted up Cubase, but now I even use Live for guitar based songs and just make little guitar loops (intro, verse, variation 1 etc.) and can sketch a song out in no time (or, to be honest, make quick backing tracks for my annoying 10 minute guitar solos
I got into live travelling on business- its great on a laptop, I have Live 8 suit with M4L and have never exhausted the possibilities - you don't even need a midi keyboard, you can just use the computer keyboard and actually make pretty good tracks….this new controller looks good for entering velocity sensitive lead, chords, drums (all with expression) and may be all you need for a portable studio….they have taken the best from Maschine, Qu Neo and various other controllers (iPAD software….), it looks like they may have this one spot on….

Seriously impressed with the functions/integration AND aesthetics of Push.
Hope Guitar Center gets one in SOON!!!

Or do both! I work in Session view, move to arrange view and the work in either Reaper, Pro Tools or now... And yes I know many work completely in Live, but I still don't like the Arrange view for much more than piecing together my works (either prepping stems or complete tracks for export).

What he said...thecontrolcentre wrote:I want one
I'm glad I held off on the APC40 or the Launchpad. Holding off on those were my excuse to get an iPad, which was great and all, but... I like pushing real buttons, touching pads and turning knobs.
I don't like the price, but that's because I just don't like the price! From what I see in the videos... I'm thinking that the pricing might be fair (and hopefully one of those many online music shops will have one of their 10%, 15%, 20% off sales).

Nice controller. I like the sequencing better than Maschine even. But Ableton always fail in one regard. And that is that they never have buttons. Racks don't have buttons so hardware controllers never have buttons for device control (even though the device itself has buttons everywhere). So if you want to turn on or off a function in a device, it's either mapped to a knob or not mapped. Sad to see there is no change in this regard. I don't even see a device on/off button which is very useful on the APC40. I guess there must at elast a hidden function for that.

I'm definitely interested. There's also a video for Push's chord/scale playing features here: https://www.ableton.com/en/push/
According to the FAQ, Push's unique features will only work when used with Ableton Live (in other DAW's it only functions as a midi controller). But I'm wondering if Push's chord and scale features will work with third party VST instruments. For example, if you load up Massive in Ableton Live, are Push's pads going to automatically light up with the chord/scale info?
Also, can you add VST instruments/effects to Push's library, so you can choose them from the Push interface? Is the Push library going to remember specific presets or the VST in general? Can you save mapping information? For example, can I save which knobs control cutoff, resonance, etc. for Sylenth1 so everytime I load it, the knobs are already mapped? (Like Kore 2 can.)
I'm guessing the answers to at least some of these questions are yes (that Push will work with third party instruments and effects as long as you use them in Live.) I can't see how they would release a product with so much potential only to have it limited to the instruments and effects that Ableton provides.
