That is EXACTLY what you have to do at the moment!! Downgrade

But there is no way to downgrade.

That is why whyterabbyt and I are getting so annoyed

We're not "worried about the price"

We just want the same chance to upgrade for at least the same price as those with a LOWER version!!

At present it's actually ludicrous - people who have already paid 100 euros more for a higher version have to pay 199 for their upgrade, against 59 euros for someone to upgrade from a LOWER version

We'll cut our losses - just let us downgrade!

This way we're being shafted twice! Once is more than enough!

jebus, that's even more ridiculous. that makes it 70EUR cheaper to go from Live 8 Standard + M4L -> Live 9 Studio than it is to downgrade from Live 8 Suite + M4L -> Live 9 Standard

accounting for the 25% discount, thats somehow a 'base price' of 80EUR for a Standard 8 -> Suite 9 upgrade, but they're asking 3 times that for Suite 8 -> Suite 9.
I know ableton have said they will sort the price out in the future for "existing" suite owners - but why keep an unnecessarily high price against my personal upgrade offer - the longer it stays up the longer is the chane it becomes fact!!
and if its all a mistake, why is it still quoting those stranegly consistent 'mistaken' prices?

Or just give me a free downgrade to live8 from suite8! - then I can pay the upgrade to suite9 for 59 euro! Not have to "wait for my special price" - currently 199 euros! What are they going to do - make it 150?!!
Yeah, i'd prefer that downgrade too.
I don't mind people with lower packages getting a good upgrade offer - good luck to them - but why is the current upgrade for me 140 more than them! It should be less! Or at least the same.

But not 140 euros MORE with a note in a forum that I will be offered a special price on release...

Please sort this out NOW
Yup. At present, it looks like anyone who's got the Suite is being penalised 3 different ways:

1) weve got no upgrade path that gets us v9 free
2) we're missing out on the extra 25% off on that upgrade path
3) even accounting for the discount etc, the only upgrade paths we get are far more expensive than upgrading from any other product version (And that's what's unacceptable IMO, but compounded drastically by the other two ways)

If someone with Standard and M4L can upgrade to Live9 Suite for 59EU right now, why do we have to wait, possibly months, to see if we're ever going to get a price that'll be even close to as good as that from Live 8 Suite?
Right now, you can probably sell the Suite and recoup enough to buy a copy of Standard and the cheapest possible upgrade, but by making us hang on for even a decent (rather than best) price, we'll basically lose any chance of doing so on the possibility that Ableton are going to let us upgrade for less than a Standard owner currently can.

Cricky- thats a lot of words considering Ableton have a sticky on the forum saying the LIVE SUIT 9 to LIVE SUIT 9 upgrade price will not be given until Live 9 is ready and it will be a cheap deal.....calm down everyone :D The current deals are to try to get non -suit owners to upgrade to get soime case in, thats all, there is no upgrade 'DEAL' for people who already have SUIT and M4L as there is nothing to upgrade to!

It will be cheaper than the current upgrade deals (maybe even free if you buy PUSH)

I'm confused by the file sizes. Suite 8 is 3 GB and boxed is 40 GB - but EIC2 is only 11 GB, so what are all the extra GBs in the boxed version? Then Live 9 standard is 11 GB - what's taking up all the space there? and Suite is 50GB - is that only boxed? What's the extra 10 GB? Anyone could clarify this for me - trying to decide whether to purchase the boxed version for another $50 when I upgrade or not.

Don't be confused, iOS is the only way to go if you're serious about creating music.

"the forum saying the LIVE SUIT 9 to LIVE SUIT 9 upgrade price will not be given until Live 9 is ready and it will be a cheap deal."

But IT IS being given now!

On my account page it says "your best upgrade path is 199 euro"

It should be changed to - "your upgrade price to be advised on release, but it will not exceed 59 euros"

Buying shoes would be a lot easier!

This is like a shoe shop saying, "if you've bought one pair from us in the past, you can order a new pair now for 59 euros - but if you've bought two pairs from us in the past, a new pair will cost you 199 euros at the moment but we"ll let you know the exact price in a few months when they come in, but it will be cheap"

I have Suite8 and M4L; my price is about 2.5 times what someone with Standard pays.

Mr Rabbyt, it's very unlike you to be illogical and irrational however I feel you are this time.
Do you really genuinely believe they would screw their best* customers like this?

Except they're already listing an upgrade price.

Incorrect. The price Im being shown is being shown as my 'deal'.
It will be cheaper than the current upgrade deals (maybe even free if you buy PUSH)
and you say that as a representative of ableton who knows that it'll be less than 59EU, do you?

if they know its going to be cheaper, why the recalcitrance about saying how much it'll be?

You may consider engaging your brainZ before you post stuff like that again. It's pretty offensive. Not everyone on this forum is male!

The main difference between the boxed and download Live 8 Suite are:
1) EIC and
2) Session Drums, which is a huge drum sample library.

I think your confusion stems from the fact that for some reason they seem to have stopped talking about Session Drums on their page...

Post

To answer my own question, the contents of Live 9 Suite is listed on their comparison page, and since there's no difference between Live 9 Suite Boxed and Download, it makes absolutely no sense for me (or anyone else) to spend an extra $50 now on the boxed version or Suite 8. Anyway, I'm mostly upgrading to get the Max.
