Yesterday I put the upgrade to Suite 8 into my cart. I already have Live 8, operator and sampler so I thought 164 euros seemed quite reasonable. So today I went to buy it and it's gone up to 224 euro with a little note saying 'the price has now changed'. :x

I think I'll wait until it actually comes out and then decide. :?
Yepp, did the same. Put the Suite in the cart yesterday at €164 and now it's at €239. I was thinking about to hit the checkout button but was still hesitating. I thought I don't need all those instruments (I own and love Sampler though) but it would have been fun to play with M4L. Ah well, I'll have better to wait for the release and upgrade to the standard version as last time. Congrats to you who got the deal in time :)

Mystery solved - looks like they put the wrong price on for the standard live 8 upgrade -

"We erroneously had the wrong one listed yesterday."

It was ridiculous because yesterday I could have got a better deal by downgrading..

Still, kudos to anyone quick enough to take advantage and fair play to Ableton for honouring those - and those who were in the process of paying the low rate

Still looks a very good deal at the new rate to upgrade from live 8 standard - as the suite version includes the full boxed set and max..

Now they need to honour their pledge for a cheap upgrade for existing suite 8 owners - I'm sure they will

Anyway, have they fixed the friggin PDC for time based FXs.. or do I have to throw my toys out the pram again..

I knew this was going to happen.

I almost pulled the trigger this morning, now at lunch it's more than a 100 dollars more... more than 50% percent more to be exact.

Doesn't explain why the prices shown for upgrading an existing Suite 8 to 9 + Push have now gone up.

Or why the adjusted discounted prices for a Live 8 to Suite 8 upgrade are now actually higher than they were before 9 was announced.

They need to take down any sales stuff from the site and have a good long word with it.

I have no problem with there being a fair price for this stuff but this is all a silly mess still.

No mystery there.

Post

that ableton forum thread is growing.

"Remember that there will also be an introductory discount for Suite 8 owners upon the release of Live 9 "

they really messed up this announcement as far as prices go.. they should've just said "price TBD" or something.

They did this the last time they had a sale too, a couple of months back.

It was supposed to be 33% off everything, but for a few hours the prices were more like 60% off before they realized the error and fixed it.

This is lame, prices went up!

I agree, the whole pricing structure is a complete mess at the moment

Probably because they rushed forward the launch after the FX youtube leak..

I really liked the old site - and it had a very clear upgrade matrix. I know that because I studied it very closely before I bought the boxed 8 suite - that seemed to offer the best path from 7 to 8 in the past, so I reasoned that would hold good for 8 to 9 in the future

Serves me right for being too logical - they've now replaced the site and removed the transparent upgrade matrix - and seem to be making the prices up on the fly..

I'm sure it will get sorted out - but they really need to check all their prices to make sure they are being fair to everyone

And bring back the upgrade matrix!

This is indeed bad marketing for Ableton.

I've been telling people left and right that the Live 8 suite upgrade is a very good way to upgrade to Live 9 suite. Now it's a meh don't bother unless you have plenty of money to spend around.

And who knows what price they have next week, or next month, or next year...

Post

Well it's a mess.

But while it's kind of relatively expensive, it is what it is. I don't think the prices (as far as we can make out) are bad for what you get. If it's what you want. Otherwise, just don't buy.

They keeping apologizing for the price mistake.
It's like they lack a Web Department....

They are working on the upgrade from Suite 8 to Suite 9....
It's like they never had an account department...

So the various departments have no idea what's going on in the rest of the company.

They set up a web Price list and no one knows how it got there with the wrong prices.

They have been working on Live 9 for so Looooong and some how they didn't realize there were users owning Suite 8 that might be "somehow interested" :o for an upgrade and they need NOW to figure it out what to charge for the unexpected option?????
