A lot of synths can sound interesting in isolation. Place them in an average busy mix, and a lot of this interest might disappear at once, as the "sound" of these instruments. Ymmv.
I have certainly heard advertisements for synths as well as reviews that claims that this or that synths "just sits" in the mix. I must say I often feel mystified because according to my experience I always have to post process my synths in a mix: a low cut here, som high shelving there, maybe lower some noisy mid freq's besides from panning, widening, compression and saturation. To me it seems highly unlikely that any synth just sits well in all kinds of material, but even more unlikely that people should be able to tell what synths are digital and analog in a mix if you can not tell the difference when compared alone. I a mix there are even more distractors.

I (almost) never eq synths in a mix and with that in mind i must say that some "sit" very very well while others require some fooling around with the patch i've made (im no pro sound designer so i never really know what will work).
The eq i use, if i do, is the one in STRIPbus and it can be very subtle as it has a dynamic mode. The different types of preamps affects lowend etc so that count as eq. Adding gain will affect it also.
Ok, i take it back - i use eq  But some synths require it more.

With all that posting, do you people even have time to make music? ^^

I also try to avoid using equalizers, but I use the LX's HP filter a lot, it is really useful. I seldom use values below 50%, mostly much higher ones as low frequencies often render the whole mix unprofessional in my view. When programming sounds one is tempted to use the whole frequency range available, because it simply sounds good with isolated sounds. But I managed to kick that bad habit ^^

TAL-U-No-LX V2 is much fun to program and play, about as much as my real Juno-60!

It's quite easy to make songs that sound so 1980s with this plugin...

I just made a short demo song with 4 instances of TAL-U-No-LX V2 plus sampled drums:

"Spirit Of 1984"

Enjoy!

Yeah, with that HPF a lot of the need for EQ is eliminated right off the bat. Subtractive's biggest problem is the waveforms start off with a very loud fundamental and quiter overtones, and the lowpass filter, however musically useful it is, just compounds this problem, as does the addition and interaction of other analog waveforms.

If a synth part isn't a bassline and doesn't include a HPF, chances are I'll have to add one right after it, so they should really be a standard feature IMO.

I certainly did enjoy…I could really see some Phil Oakey lyrics fitting in very nicely. Good Work!

Phil Oakey of The Human League? That's a huge compliment, thank you!

This Track features the U-No-LX V2 on Bass and the irritating sine wavey lead sound that plays when the drums kick in.I'm really stoked with how close it comes to my beloved old Juno 6 and Juno 60 I previously owned

The techno synth sounds are Z3TA+ 2.1

There is a Roland JX3P on the 3 note descending lead at 21 seconds

The FX swells are mostly Korg Monotribe.

Valhalla Room Verb on the big snare and kick layer. Valhalla Uber Mod for some delays and a really old VSt Freebie called Metal Mikey (I think) on the lead.
All chanels have SkNote Strip on them. Sonimus Satson Bus, Stripbus on the Master Chanel.

Sorry for the long winded explanation I just love to Geeeeeek!

I love the sound and simplicity of this synth, it just oozes quality. I have quite a few synths but since purchasing this I can't leave it alone.

TAL just released TAL-Chorus-LX, a free Chorus FX based on that inside U-NO-LX:

This seems to replace the old Chorus-60 plugin.

I wonder what's different with this chorus compared to the old one. The roland chorus, with a lack of better description, that i enjoy the most is the on for/from pg8x, JX-Chorus. Easy one-switch chorus :D.
