i emailed ableton about their pricing a while ago and go this in response.. have to say.. it's not much clearer now.
The upgrade price you are seeing when logged in is a personalized offer tailored to you, depending on how many add-ons and packs you already own.
Standard upgrades from Live 8 Suite to Live 9 Suite cost 299 USD. You are therefore receiving a discount of 65 USD.
You could also upgrade to Live 9 Standard for 159 USD, and the instruments & add-ons you already have will be carried forward and updated in the upgrade.
i replied asking for clarification. my guess is the difference between live9 standard and live9 suite for people who already own suite and max4live will be not getting the included max4live instruments?? and not getting all the sample content.. but it's kind of unclear since it says in the reply i got that all my add ons will be upgraded. wtf is going on here ableton? i'm glad the software isn't ready yet because they're gonna need the beta time to figure out how they are going to sell it.
also, they've said more than once that there will be a further price drop for suite owners when Live9 is released.. so as far as pricing goes.. i have no idea what it's going to cost or what i'll get for the upgrade price.
good job ableton!

I think I asked this before and it got lost in the shuffle.
is there a timeline as to when the deals in your signed-in account expire? I do not see an expiration for the 25% off price, am I missing it?

Ableton's online shopping site is like a roulette table. I would not trust those 25% discounts as there's no mentioning when they expire, for example. Plus with all the mistakes and errors they had at their shopping site end last week...hibidy wrote:I think I asked this before and it got lost in the shuffle.

I hear ya. I just can't justify it w/o further testing. I don't know, but a firm "from this until........." would be really nice.
I guess I can email them. They were proper in getting back to me with the x64 beta

I'm still waiting for a definite answer from them about the suite 8 upgrade hike/mistake but it does not hurt to email them.hibidy wrote:I hear ya. I just can't justify it w/o further testing. I don't know, but a firm "from this until........." would be really nice.
