Set list vs Sub-session list

I am having an issue with switching sub sessions by using the setlist. Whenever I switch to a song in a setlist that has either the NI BIV organ vsti or the Korg Legacy vsti, the proper preset never loads. But, if I have the sub session list open and click on the applicable sub session, the correct preset loads. What can I do to make switching sub sessions using the setlist work properly?

Are your set list subsessions all from the same session?
Some plugins use proprietary browsers which don't allow patch recall in the normal way.
Have you tried enabling Entire Bank from each plugin's Sub-Session behavior?

Some of my sub sessions are in other sessions (I have 4 sessions: set 1 thru set 4)
I do have "entire bank" selected, It wouldn't work at all until I did.
It just seems odd that changing subsessions via the setlist wouldn't work bu doing so using the sub session browser does.

'entire bank' should load the exact status of the plugin as it was when the subsession was saved. Are you using 'entire bank' AND program change? Not that I have any particular insight into that combination it's just that the program change is redundant if you're using 'entire bank'.
Also, have you noticed if the failure happens when you are moving to a sub-session which is called from a different session from the previous session? I mention this because, of course, loading a new session is quite a different proposition from loading a subsession as the entire configuration of plugins can be totally different.

I have noticed that it happens most when I go from one session to another. Also, once the correct preset gets selected, I don't have the problem happen again when switching via the setlist.

I suspect you may have something configured differently in one of the sessions which is blocking the setup.
Suggest you make a setlist using only the subsessions from one session. See if you can break that.
Repeat the test for each of your sessions - using only the subsessions from each session - each in a unique dedicated setlist. Process of elimination.

Sometimes it helps to send conventional midi bank/program commands.pinkcanaru wrote:Some plugins use proprietary browsers which don't allow patch recall in the normal way.
NI B4 is sometimes silent when reloaded - even if the patch has been selected...
However I admit I myself am not happy about the many ways sounds are selected with plugins. There is also no host who ever created a concept that makes sound selection finally appear to be "independent" from the method the sound module or plugin uses.
I think some procedures are too technical ans should be moved to another level than dealing with it in each session or subsession...
