How does one interpret a sonogram? Maybe a video explaining that to potential users might be helpful.
Top to bottom = frequency (highest at top)
Light to dark = volume (bright = loud, dark = quiet)
HTH
Ok: As a user, I like to have as much control over the individual elements that constitute a 'patch' as possible- thus: the minimoog reference-it's as straight-forward a interface as they come. So the $64,000 question for any synth-hardware or software-is do I have direct control in an intuitive way over the elements that fit together to make a sound?
The sonogram looks like fft-is it an additive in disquise (I'm asking this respectfully; this is not a slight)
BTW: If Jeremy is reading: hi! I was one of the original Ozone beta testers BITD!
if you only use one voice or track then it's not additive, it's subtractive but extremely easy to be selective so it can also function as a type in situ granular that is the small snippets of sound don't get moved around in time in relation to it's immeadeate surroundings. For examples you could easily isolate just the metallic percussion in a synphonic exerpt.. then bring up the bass drum frequencies without the attack to create a weird but interesting yet connected soundscape.
The glue to make things gel is the Sub bas and some pretty high quality effects that can be used as master effects or sends effects.
Global filter and a macro control with 8 pots add realtime tweakabilty..
Pretty well fleashed out for making things gel together. You could add a compressore at the output. Though there is a loadness control at the master out.
I think the key with Iris is bringing in sounds that are already fairly complementry in some way. Though this is just speculation at this point.
Also just because there are three tracks plus sub it doesn't mean you need to use three diffrent sound files you can use the same file three times and treat it differently like staggered loop points different effects, and of course different painted patterns.
Carefully used there's no doubt that you can make your sound gel..
