DJ Software for beginners?

Hey, kids I'm looking for some "DJ" software, for beginners(Free and paid)
Any ideas?
Looking for something more toward controllerism style, but that I can use as a traditional digital DJ, if I need to. Something that will host vsts would be great. Thanks guys

Having just gone through this I have some disappointing news. In short, DJ software just isn't that impressive if you're used to most DAWs. Deckadance hosts VSTs and is a VST itself, it's $100. I don't have much else to say about it, for my needs, I went with traktor which doesn't host VSTS but is also about %100.

Mixx is free, and works fairly well. If you want to beatmatch then you might find traditional controllers limiting. That said, if you have any kind of controller at all, you can map it to mixx's decks, and get comfortable with the process for no money.

Virtual DJ gets a lot of flak, but, it hosts VSTs and has good automatic beat matching. I've used it to DJ a few live sets under low pressure. It's about $100 for the minimum version that allows separate outputs, but, they don't allow you to use any hardware controllers at that price. You have to spend $300 to be able to use external hardware.

A lot of people like Serato and the twitch controller is interesting but I don't know much more than that. For my own reasons, I didn't choose it and I'll let others chime in on it.

Finally, a lot of people use live. I find it a pain to try and play DJ sets with, but a lot of people like that sort of setup.

For me, traktor's remix decks are worth the price of admission. Also, I think that VST support isn't that important in a DJ rig. You really want to get used to a fixed architecture.

I believe that you can demo traktor, you can also download a free version of virtual DJ.

Mixx is the best free one around. it's not that mature like eg traktor though.

100% agree on that. simply stick to whatever works for you the best (workflow etc). my personal choice would be traktor.
