Well christmans is coming up and that means presents. I filled up a shopping cart (amazon) with all the gear and audiophile/music producer could ever want and then deleted the things i could live without. now i have about 200 left to throw every which way and since my headphones just broke (im getting them fixed) i decided to get an upgrade. i have looked into open headphones but i am really worried about leaking since i travel a lot (i would buy the sennhieser HD 558s in an instant if they werent open). I would also like headphones that are stylish, over ear, and better than beats ( i have a friend that just loves to brag about his beats).

Beats are THE worst headphones I've ever heard.

You can't go wrong with these, and until something better comes along at this price, they will always be my go-to headphones. But if you do want to research for yourself, I'd recommend looking at Headroom's headphone graphs.vaisnava wrote:Audio Technica MTH-50

Somehow a guy using a backdrop of a tool chest doesn't inspire me as a person who is an audiophile or an engineer.

Even at <$50, just about any Superlux headphone is gonna beat the Beats.davidka wrote:Check this out, I got mine for €35.

Just a fact but, Dr. Dre makes all his current revenue ($100+ million was just the contract for his name on them, plus whatever high yearly profits generated) for his name on those Beats headphones, more than any of his music/production sales. That's the reason he was ranked as a one of the top 5 richest celebrities of the year the since those headphones went on the market.
I have never heard them, but I imagine they do suck, probably with the bass/low frequencies way over colored/emphasized. I just
every time I see the $300 price tag for them too. Marketed to the same people that must have every $200 pair of Nike Jordan shoe that come out every few months. Simply put, "Bling for your ear/hearing"
Just as I saw an xmas tv commercial tonight advertising $150 Skull Candy headphones in roughly the same manner
